Yes, it appears that someone has hacked the poll results. Shouldn't that be permaban worthy?
I'll take that as a concession thank you.
I don't really see the difference. I need others and they need me.
Then how was this couple "coercing" others?
Oh, so you are assuming this is the case?
Difficult to say. There may have not been any customers in the store at the time. They may have been so paniced that they wouldn't sell them the inhaler that they weren't able to think straight. They may have asked every customer that was in the store, and every customer may have turned them down.
I put in the charity is freely giving and not through coercion to be clear on what charity is. You wanted others to be charitible to this couple, but you also want the ones doing the giving to do so automatically.
Take it as you want, but I think the CVS pharmacy acted unethically. There is nothing forcing them (that I know of) to give her the life saving medication, but they still put her in danger over a buck. As an asthmatic and a pharmacy technician I am disgusted by their actions. Pharmacies are healthcare centers, the primary focus is the patients health (at least it is where I work). It's unethical, inhumane, and very unpatriotic to deny someone life saving medicine over one stupid dollar. I don't see how the tech (assuming a tech was ringing them up) can sleep at night.
It's disturbing that helping another human being from possibly dying isn't an automatic reaction.
I can understand you thinking that way.

Nope, I never assume anything. I put up a valid variation of what could have happened. I wasn't there and neither was you.
We will never know because of the sensationalistic journalism to paint x corporation as evil.
Now we're back to emotion. All inhalers are put behind the counter as the result of the War on Drugs, so this includes Primatine Mist. Primatine Mist can be bought without a prescription. Again, if she had taken the time to grab her inhaler, as she said herself that she left it at home, then she wouldn't have been in the situation she was in.
Emotion? We are talking about saving a human life. Inhalers are put behind the counter because they require prescriptions from a doctor. They are not OCT items due to the fact that for some patients they may be dangerous and should only be used as directed by a physician/pharmacist. You can't just sell albuterol steroid inhalers to anyone for any reason. This isn't a result on the War on Drugs, its a result of good medical practice. The only "high" you get from a rescue inhaler is a dizziness associated with oxygen deprivation (because the medication is a steroid and not oxygen).
I'm sorry, but forgetting to bring a rescue inhaler doesn't merit allowing someone to die of an asthma attack.
I can actually attest to this. I'm using one of these right now. Screw bronchitis!
Do you have chronic bronchitis? I hope you get well :2wave: I say screw lung diseases in general. Air is freeeace
And wth? There are like 60 votes supporting CVS, and about 5 min ago there were only 40(ish). Poll trolling is annoying.

The only "high" you get from a rescue inhaler is a dizziness associated with oxygen deprivation (because the medication is a steroid and not oxygen). This is how the War on Drugs works. The Controlled Substances Act stages drugs in certain catagories. You have your CV, CIV, CIII, CII, and CI. CI are illegal, they are drugs like heroine and cocaine. CII are legal controlled substances like oxycodon and morphine. CIII are controlled drugs like vicodin and ambien. However, this is not the reason why drugs are behind the shelf. It's all about good medical practice. Not just anyone should take metformin, it's only beneficial if you have high blood sugar. If you don't it's dangerous. Not anyone should use a rescue inhaler. It's a steroid that acts to reduce inflammation in the lungs.

Yeah, that's what the NP at the clinic diagnosed me with. I've had it for about a month too. It sucks because I can't do anything physical without getting winded way too quickly. Hopefully the inhaler will help.
And Thanks!
Yes, because society is responsible for everyone's well being when they don't know about it.

Is there a way to fix the polls so that this can't be done?

I usually shop at Walgreen's too; there are more of them, and they're more conveniently located.
Their selection of makeup and hair products is good, and that's usually what I'm shopping for when I go to a drugstore. I like their generic brand stuff pretty well (tampons, cold medicines, allergy pills, advil). It compares favorably to name brand stuff, and is significantly less expensive.
Oh, and they have a great selection of candy. I loooove candy!
I find it curious that those who support CVS and condemn the ailing woman in this case have nothing to say about CVS' history of corporate greed, complete lack of concern for its customers, and unethical business practices.

It should be ban worthy, IMO.
So what if it was a Mom & Pop pharmacy who didn't sell the girl an inhaler because she lacked a dollar? Would the fact that that Mom & Pop operation never had a problem with the law but still didn't sell the girl the inhaler make the situation okay?
If anything, a statement like this is the most resounding way to prove that conservative ideology is, at its centre, selfish, naive and regressive.
One could debate all day long about whether the manager ought to have sold her the asthma inhaler, if the debate is about the legality of selling dangerous drugs to unconfirmed sob story tellers.
But this... Your ideology has twisted you so much that you believe that people ought to be horrible bastards to each other, just because it aligns with your twisted political views.
I don't understand how to get through to a person who has left logic so far behind as to agree with a statement like, "The woman having the asthma attack was in the wrong -- people needn't help each other."
When you get to hell, send my regards to Hitler and Limbaugh.
I think it draws the distinction between a corporation and a Mom and Pop outfit. A Mom and Pop outfit would have waived the dollar.
