Calling for Pence's hanging was stupid and callous, by a group of bad actors. They never expected or even hoped that Pence would be hung. Likewise, Comey's calling for 47 to be 86ed was stupid and callous, as Comey is a bad actor. Comey doesn't expect someone to actually 86 47.

Trump defended the chant, saying it was common sense.

I've been telling you why. The rioters who chanted "hang Mike Pence" were set off by Trump's tweet during the riot that condemned Pence for the fourth time that day. That was preceded by a month of online threats and plans to hang democrats and cause violence to stop the EC.

Don't ask me to reconcile the fact that Trump defended the chant. That's red herring nonsense.

The fact that he would not call the NG , and only sent a video to the rioters after he was told the NG had been mobilized. This corresponds to trump defending the chant. It demonstrates his support for the rioters. This occurred while he was aware that the rioters carried weapons.
