According to journalist Nicholas Schmidle, one of bin Laden's wives, Amal Ahmed Abdul Fatah, motioned as if she were about to charge; the lead SEAL shot her in the leg, then grabbed both women and shoved them aside.[62]

Robert J. O'Neill, who later publicly identified himself as one of the SEALs who shot bin Laden,[111][112] states that he pushed past the lead SEAL, entered through the door and confronted bin Laden inside the bedroom. O'Neill states that bin Laden was standing behind a woman with his hands on her shoulders, pushing her forward. O'Neill immediately shot bin Laden twice in the forehead, then once more as bin Laden crumpled to the floor.[113]

Justified. Using a human shield and then pushing her forward to do who knows what. He could've had a weapon or had a vest or IED wired to a triggering device.

We were there to kill Osama bin Laden. Arrest wasn't on the program.

Agree. Unless he immediately surrendered the only option was to shoot him.

I am reminded of the movie Braveheart:

Longshanks:
Bring me Wallace. Alive if possible, dead... just as good.

On a minor historical side note, the actual William Wallace was a rather brutal fanatic.

Unlike Osama Bin Laden the US doesn’t deliberately try to slaughter as many non-combatants as possible. Your whataboutism is pathetic.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki disagree*

The purpose of nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki was to put an end to the genocidal Japanese regime and saved millions upon millions of lives.

The purpose of 9 11 was to put an end to the genocidal US regime Tiger.

Now 20 years later the Freedom Fighters have won. Hallelujah.

Of course....Corporate Forces will continue to kill human beings for profit into the foreseeable future, so there will be untold "terrorists" created, and who knows how many future 911's.

BOOK IT!!! (y) 💯 🤷‍♂️

Lol what? What “genocidal US regime”? Nothing the US has done for well over a century could remotely be considered “genocidal”.

Of course, your idols will continue to shoot women for being “uppity” and slaughter Hazara for....being Hazara, and you will continue to cheerlead for them.

Congrats on exposing yourself....,again.

Was America justified in killing Osama bin Laden?

I would say yes, we were.

Plus, isn't Hallelujah a Jewish word? :)

There has seldom been a more justified killing, and I'm anti-capital punishment.

Not happy that Truman saved so many service personal lives? Is there any way for us to get this confused, anti-American deported? Not to Mexico, too easy to come back. How about Afghanistan, they would love him there.

Bin Laden needed killing for sure but it should have been done about 20 years sooner when we had the chance and passed it up while he was in a Afghan training camp in plain sight of a drone.
We can and should blame Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright for not carrying out that attack.

Yes, of course.

If he had been captured in New York City, he would have been immediately released without bail and asked to pretty please report to court on a certain date.

If he did appear in court, he would have been given one month's probation and told not to do such a mean thing again.

As he left court, he would be given $100 in taxpayer money to get a taxi to take him home (and stop for a snack on the way).

Fortunately, however, he was found in our great & dear friend Pakistan.

And a brave American terminated another terrorist's worthless existence.

Of course America was justified.
Who says otherwise?

16 out of 16 say:

Yes, Osama bin Laden needed killing

Yes, but not as an extra judicial "punishment".

If he was brought back tried and executed fine - I'm not into the death penalty but at least there's a process. The guys on the ground were trying to capture him not just kill him on the spot. That he was a dangerous armed fugitive left them little choice.

Anyone who has read any of several good books about the hunt, not least the one by the guy who shot him, will get exactly the same story: his son had pulled a gun going in, he looked like he was going for a weapon, so they had to shoot.

I disagree with the notion Bin laden 'deserved' killing on the spot or that it was the 'right' thing to do. Under the circumstances it looks like it was the only thing to do in the moment.

It would have been nicer to bring him to justice, call him to account, have a due process, but that's not how it played out.
