[W:8]Gun deaths in America - a new record!

Because given that the a state of war exists with no country on earth, the money is wasted.

It could be reduced by 50% and the world would continue ticking right-on-time.

And the money could be more productively employed where needed. Like expanding (1) lifespan of Americans with a National Health Service. Or (2) teaching for free necessary skills to our kids at postsecondary institutions of learning so that they don't end-up on the Unemployment Rolls (in this new Information Age of ours).

Unless, of course, you can think of an even better usage ...

We are at war with Syria. But a state of war does not exist with major countries BECAUSE we spend money defense. See Ukraine for evidence of what happens when you dont. However we ARE at war with islamic fascism, and they have no country. They do have millions of soldiers who constantly attacks us and our allies. So the money isnt wasted. It could certainly be cut, but given we have 800bn in deficit, it should not be respent elsewhere.

The point however is that school shootings pale in comparison to the threat humanity faces from terrorism.

Re: Gun deaths in America - a new record!

What does this ^^ have to do with the definition of a school shooting?

No, it doesn’t. From your everytown reference: “It defines a school shooting as any time a gun fires or discharges inside or into a building or on a campus at a high school or college.” Clax1911 said that if a suicide by firearm occurs near a school it is considered a school shooting.

1. You don’t accept what Wikipedia says, but you’ll accept what the Guardian, a UK based organization, says?
2. You made up your assertion that a suicide by firearm near a school is considered a school shooting. It doesn’t say that in OP’s reference or anywhere else that I’m aware of.
3. I’m addressing you because you are attempting to spread misinformation.
Actually, no, I'm trying to spread rational thought and a thorough understanding of the data. Counting shootings on weekends, or during non-school hours is kinda of a stretch to call a "school shooting" because that phrase evokes the vision of a Sandy Hook or Columbine scenario. Totally misleading. And counting suicides? Why the person chose the school grounds has nothing to do with the "school shooting" problem.

Misleading and out of context is your response to a question not asked of you.

I have already acknowledged the stretching of credibility in another post in this thread. Municipalities and state governments are entitled to include whatever they like in their definition of “school shooting” at least until the federal government steps in and creates one.

Wow! Desperate much?

Then propose Constitutional, effective and enforceable laws that would be enforced.

A constitutional amendment requires the approval of both two-thirds of Congress to propose it to the states of which two-thirds must approve it.

That aint-gonna-happin as regards the possession of guns. What can be done however is a simple national law governing the USAGE of guns and certain types of guns (like machine-guns and others that are already banned for civilian usage). As well as who can own and use them, thus making it illegal that children less than a certain age employ them in any way.

Some of these laws exist already. None of them prevent kids, however, from using them (to shoot other kids) if they can get their hands on them. So, they simply must be prevented from being entered in any event that combines people, meaning detection by means of some very sophisticated machines ...

From the Guardian: 2018 is worst year on record for gun violence in schools, data shows

Excerpt:

It is clear that American schools are no longer safe from kids who "go bonkers" with a gun.

Instead of wasting $650B on the DoD, why not take some of that money and fund schools to implement detector entry-gates? And stores put them in for customer scrutiny and guns be no longer allowed sales in such outlets?

Instead of spending Planned Parenthood $500 million a year to kill babies, we should spend that money to protect babies.

Laws governing the use of guns already exist. It's illegal to murder, or try to murder someone with a gun.

We spend that much and more to protect babies. We should just stop spending 500 million on planned parenthood, and not borrow 500 million.
