The president has repeatedly disparaged the intelligence of service members, and asked that wounded veterans be kept out of military parades, multiple sources tell The Atlantic.

When President Donald Trump canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018, he blamed rain for the last-minute decision, saying that “the helicopter couldn’t fly” and that the Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Neither claim was true.

Trump rejected the idea of the visit because he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.

Figures. He threatened to disown his son when Donald Jr. mentioned that he was thinking of joining the military.

Our Command in Chief. God help us.

Trump is a disgrace who views the military as just clowns in his car in the circus. He should resign ASAP.

My maternal grandfather was wounded in the battle for Argonne Forest Sept. 26-Nov.11, 1918.

**** you Donald Trump.

Also from this Atlantic Monthly article:

On Memorial Day 2017, Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery, a short drive from the White House. He was accompanied on this visit by John Kelly, who was then the secretary of homeland security, and who would, a short time later, be named the White House chief of staff. The two men were set to visit Section 60, the 14-acre area of the cemetery that is the burial ground for those killed in America’s most recent wars. Kelly’s son Robert is buried in Section 60. A first lieutenant in the Marine Corps, Robert Kelly was killed in 2010 in Afghanistan. He was 29. Trump was meant, on this visit, to join John Kelly in paying respects at his son’s grave, and to comfort the families of other fallen service members. But according to sources with knowledge of this visit, Trump, while standing by Robert Kelly’s grave, turned directly to his father and said, “I don’t get it. What was in it for them?” Kelly (who declined to comment for this story) initially believed, people close to him said, that Trump was making a ham-handed reference to the selflessness of America’s all-volunteer force. But later he came to realize that Trump simply does not understand non-transactional life choices.

“He can’t fathom the idea of doing something for someone other than himself,” one of Kelly’s friends, a retired four-star general, told me. “He just thinks that anyone who does anything when there’s no direct personal gain to be had is a sucker. There’s no money in serving the nation.” Kelly’s friend went on to say, “Trump can’t imagine anyone else’s pain. That’s why he would say this to the father of a fallen marine on Memorial Day in the cemetery where he’s buried.”

Before our resident truth-deniers show up and refuse to believe this article, it would help them to actually read it. Or at least just the subtitle:

I would also strongly encourage those of you who have served our country and prefer Trump over Biden to pause and read this article. Read what this president has to say about you.

According to sources with knowledge of the president’s views, he seems to genuinely not understand why Americans treat former prisoners of war with respect. Nor does he understand why pilots who are shot down in combat are honored by the military. On at least two occasions since becoming president, according to three sources with direct knowledge of his views, Trump referred to former President George H. W. Bush as a "loser" for being shot down by the Japanese as a Navy pilot in World War II.

I understand that the Germans they fought there referred to the Marines as "Teufelshunde," or "Devil Dogs." The Marines have proudly adopted that nickname ever since.

Semper Fi.

p.s. Kelly declined to comment on this story. Does anyone think for a minute he wouldn't comment on it if it were untrue?

One would think he would have learned something in military school, but no. No wonder he lost the military vote.

literally fake news.

how can any military person support our President?

Disgusting gutless coward has to disgusting gutless coward.

The episode makes this passage in Mary Trump's book more understandable:

“Our Uncle Rob, Robert Trump, the president’s younger brother, told us, quote, ‘any of them could be disowned at any time,'” said Maddow. “‘Donny’ — meaning Donald Trump Jr. — ‘was going to join the Army or some bullsh*t like that, and Donald and Ivana told him if he did, they’d disown him in a second.'”

"join the Army or some bulls**t like that." Huh.

Wow. A story from 2018. Try not to be so desperate.

Our military is made up of suckers and losers? Most would say that that would describe the CIC.

Fletch.
Look at everything he has ever said about veterans. About service. About what is in it for them. About being a POW. About not getting STD's for banging college chicks. Over the last 40 years. There is a record. A rude and abhorrent record. Some of us can see it. The desperate one is you.

How am I desperate? You dont seem to know what the word means. This story is two years old.

Again, have those two years somehow made it acceptable?

Has it gotten better with age?

I suppose its only useful now as a means to form a liberal circle jerk. So im gonna hit the exits before it gets messy in here. Just make sure one of you cleans up after yourselves this time.

I could understand a parent being concerned about their child joining the military, but threatening to disown him? WTF. Trump probably thinks signing up for the military is for poor people and suckers

So when anonymous sources tell us that a majority of the left are all pedophiles, that support the complete dissolution of the country. They're completely legitimate and truthful as well, right?
