It's not difficult to see where Ocasio-Cortez is coming from, and she's hardly alone. New York's infrastructure is in serious trouble, and it just gave 1.5 billion in tax breaks to a company to hire 25,000 employees by 2028.

But maybe someone more economic-minded can see the big picture better than me.

I have even seen the commercials for it on TV.
Asking companies to move to New York State for all the benefits they will get.
Any bean counter with a brain would avoid New York State like the plague.
They are the highest taxed state in the union IIRC.

I like how people claim that this tax break is going to cost someone else something. That is ludicrous. Tax cuts or tax breaks do not cost anyone anything. This is not the government's money and they just let us keep some, so it costing them something. The state would still be better off letting the company come in and pay zero corporate taxes for as long as they are in the state than the company to not come in in the first place.

Heck, California gave Disney the greatest deal for building it’s Disneyland (or is it Disneyworld?) theme park in that state. Disney land pays little if any property taxes.

It is Disney World, and Disney it its own governing body, on par with an incorporated city. Disney takes care of Fire and emergency services, utilities, roads, etc. They don't pay property taxes for this land, because they are responsible for all those services. Disney created something of value out of swamp land and orange groves. It is a world destination and put Orlando on the map. Great questions actually if I may?

So first off I am an Individual republican. With that.


The basis of a corporation is simple Capitalism right?

So here is the thing I worked W2 all my life... 2012 I basically had no choice to go 1099 (First lesson in real economics and capitalism) I made some pretty good money as a W2. benefits, retirement etc. But I worked for someone that dictated my time. meaning 5 days a week 8am-5pm +/- work loads, BUT I got paid NO more than the agreed salary, My Taxes were automatically taken based on my filings. No if ands or buts

Now as a 1099. I have FULL control of my Hours. I do not have a TIME frame to work. My income is also driven specifically how hard or how little I work. if I want a RAISE I go out there and bust my tail To make more money.

Finally the way I file taxes and benefits can be a bonus as I do NOT have to pay for excess taxes that do NOT pertain to me (to a certain extent) My write offs / Schedule C gives me a little more leverage.


So Corporations are the END result for a small business like myself. When it can operate independently and I can benefit from the ground up. WHILE I WILL NOT deny that corporation have gotten more and more shady, It is the small business person like myself. that is working to build a conglomerate so I dont have to work as hard as I did.


Now THIS MODEL is NOT for everyone. NOT everyone wants to or likes to WORK freely With that NOT everyone HAS self control To work when they have no boss or no office and works from home. IT IS NOT for everyone period. Some people like security and repetition THAT FACT. I have the self accountability to go to the office everyday 8am-5pm + ANY time in between when clients call. Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays 2am.... that is the risk vs reward vs the W2 that only normally gets calls during business hours .


So Its an appeal to a certain class that is WILLING to strive for that. Let me say this.... W2 I made some REALLY good money with benefits at one point in my life. But limited to Contracts and TIME.

Since 2012 becoming 1099, I have caught up TO ALL my wages and benefits as I did at my PEAK W2,. BUT I have extreme freedom to play golf once a week, Pick up and drop my kids off at school ANYTIME..... and I have the ability to increase my income ANYTIME I want regardless of how the Market and the economy is doing as my income is based on production NOT on wage scales.

I have no problems with small businesses. I have big problems with big businesses using the government to gain special advantages and eliminate competition.
