[W:#389: 420, 790]Texas elementary school reports 'active shooter' on campus

Am I the only person being asked to give up my guns to save those lives? Then yes, I would. It would be my personal decision.

I would be completely against my choice being forced by law on others.
Aren't you too afraid of government you may need to attempt to curb the excesses of, at gunpoint, or fall into formation in some
imaginary militia of other noble patriots like.... Ashli Babbitt to one day "save the nation," to even contemplate ever, ever, ever, giving
up your guns?

Yeah as long as I have an ID.

Why is it people think $500 dollar registration fees in say New York for a gun is reasonable but $10 bucks to buy a state ID is unreasonable?

Hmmm.... So you DO register to exercise some of your rights..... hmmm.... Why do we require registration of voters?

Your wrong. I don't give up anything without reason. Would you give up your car to save a child killed in a drunk driving incident?
If you won't consider giving up your guns to save childrens' lives, feel free to SOB.

We literally just saw a grocery store with an armed security guard be the site of a mass shooting. What is the answer then? Guards with AR-15s and full body armor roaming every public space?

We'll also need to start teaching kids in kindergarten to carry weapons as well as attaching a handgun to shopping baskets in grocery stores. All pews in churches should also be equipped a handgun next to the hymn books. Then we only have to worry about places of employment, movie theaters, open space areas, and everything in between. 🤷‍♂️

So you agree we can’t ban or reduce guns? Then what is your point?

Why would I destroy my guy?

Because you might not want so many guns in the country that there are so many mass shootings nearly every day.

There is no way to ban guns or reduce them.

LMAO... We don't need to ban guns or reduce them.. Just make ammunition exceedingly expensive...

I would be more concerned with the immediate lives of 18 kids. I'd trade my guns for their lives.

I didnt say I wouldnt acquire more. Why would I not want to continue to have the means to defend myself according to my life and circumstances?

Are you a well regulated militia?
“Well-regulated” modifies “militia”. The Constitution grants powers to government. The Bill of Rights restricts the powers of government.

The militia is "well regulated" in 10 USC 246 under the powers granted to Congress in Article 1, Section 8, Clause 16.

U.S. Code § 246.Militia: composition and classes

(a)The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b)The classes of the militia are—
(1)the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2)the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

The Second Amendment can only limit the power of government, not expand it. That limitation was expressed in the clause "the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".

Nothing in the Bill of Rights limits the rights of the people.

I'm betting the Ukrainians would disagree right about now.

Gun Grabbers were probably shitting bricks when the Ukraine gov't was handing out AKs to everyone over the age of 10 before Putzin decided to give the "Go" order.
Assuming Mexico and Canada were going to attack us simultaneously in a pincer movement, this post would be more relevant.

What's the acceptable number?
That seems like the wrong question to be asking. That’s like trying to figure out what speed limits should be based on car crash deaths.

There are policies we know reduce gun violence and we should implement them and go from there. All I care about is that it’s an improvement.

The same as the acceptable number of people killed by drunk drivers. None.
Then why did you end the word "reduce" rather than what you meant?

Come on. Realistically we have to do something. If you want less people advocating for all guns being banned then we need to figure out some way to reduce the number of tragedies like this. It is too big of a problem to just brush under the carpet.

Against banning all guns? Then provide a better alternative.
This guy was a Mexican. If we banned all Mexicans wouldn't that work?

Wait. 85% of gun crimes are committed by Black Males. Ban them and gun crime becomes moot.

Banners always want bans. We banned drugs, we banned alcohol, we banned child porn, we banned drunk driving, all have the same results. No ban has ever worked but the ignorant still advocate for it.

We don’t need to. You have no possibility of banning any guns. Let alone all of them.
Plenty of guns are banned…though. And effectively so too.

But I agree with the broader point that there is no way to meaningfully reduce gun proliferation in the US in the short term.

You haven't shown that his giving up guns would save lives? Would you poke out your eyes if it would save 18 children from molestation?
