There was when I was growing up. That's what I was referring to. I'm not a fan of abstinence only sex education. I'm also well past the age to know what's going on in classrooms now. Sorry I can't be of any help.

You don't need to masturbate to have an orgasm. I had one once at a Picasso exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago. The painting was "Woman with Flowers." I have no idea why that happened.

My high school health teacher only said it is something women do without listing any benefits. If physical health benefits existed, I would have heard about it.

If you want better mental health, you can do other things. So that aspect would be totally irrelevant. Only physical health matters on this topic.
