In many school districts, children are taught limited sex education in grades K-3 to keep them from being targets of pedophiles. They are taught the areas of the body that adults should not be touching, so say no to such acts and to tell other adults if thy are so touched. If you can not teach anything about sex to kids in K-3 grades, you make them easy targets of the very pedophiles that cons are complaining about.

Let's invite the parents to do their job and educate their kids about pedophiles. Chances are, if their kids encounter one it will be a family member or friend.

Schools have Danger-Stranger programs to teach kids how to keep themselves safe from those out to harm them but sex education at that age? That should be a responsibility best left to the young child's parents to teach.

Pedophiles are so ""demonised"" that real pedophiles go unrecognized when already established as family or friends. So your idea of parents doing the teaching is rather inadequate. It's likely to be retracted when the child reports a bad touch and the parent confronts the other-parent/older-sibling etc who swears it was just friendly and family style touch. When it's a choice between sending an adult they know to prison, and not believing the child, many parents choose not to believe the child. Though they may keep the offender and their children apart, it's a selfish solution which likely displaces offending onto unwary others ... much as the Catholic church did in fact.

Another thing is that parents are not mandatory reporters, but teachers are. For that reason alone, it's much better when small children report bad touches to teachers AND parents. The only way teachers can get out of reporting then, is to discuss it with parents, which they would otherwise be very reluctant to do.

I'm aware. I failed big time with that post -- I was being sarcastic about parents teaching their kids about pedophilia and failed to make the connection to my belief that parents are inappropriately interfering with school curriculum.

Not really a fail. I sometimes miss irony.

1. That's not sex ed.
2. Your kids generally aren't trapped with other people for hours a day that are trying to indoctrinate your kids and talk to them about sex outside of school.

Man...you sure are desperate to find SOME way to make sure that leftist teachers can expose 4-5 year olds to sexual materials and content.
And you must side with the pedophiles if you are willing to have young children so uneducated they are easy targets.

that is fine if parents will do so, and many won't . Like in many areas of their education, teachers have to do jobs that the parents will not do.

What a freak groomer thread. No link. No political debate. Just some random posters fantasy posted online.
I was a school board member who helped set up such programs. and my wife was a teacher. Maybe you should get educated before deciding what you want to write about. there are video's out there on these subjects, but then, maybe the right wingers have taken them out of the circulation,

Sorry, but that is sex education that k-3 grades can understand and still need to know. And I know you think that education of any sort is indoctrination. Cons seem to want everyone dumbed down because Trump loves the uneducated. Between right wingers and the religious right, future children will grow up learning nothing. I believe today that most right wingers want only white Christians to be able to vote in this country and in state that they control they are passing laws to make it come true.

Nope. It's not your job. Stay in your lane and parents will teach their kids, maybe they won't.

Either way, it's none of your business as an educator; especially in K-3...really until 6th grade when traditional sex ed is taught.

Sorry, but you are wrong. I am glad you are not a teacher. Most parents do not have the knowledge of how to go about teaching children that young. Of course if people prefer to side with the pedophiles?

And yet...here you are...in yet another thread you have started promoting this idiotic concept that excuses leftist teachers targeting children.

Sorry pal...you own that shit philosophy...and just because you dreamed up yet another idiotic excuse to enable predators doesnt make your idiotic excuse right...it just made it an idiotic excuse for leftists predators to target children in schools. Something you seem really keen on making happen.

LOL! Your arrogant and self-important reply is on display for all to see.

Teach the curriculum and keep your personal opinions to yourself.

As a parent and grandparent, stay in your lane.

A little reading, science, math, and dirty sanchez pointers just a typical second graders Tuesday. Ok class put away your macaroni necklaces so we can learn about anal beads then cookies and juice time

Sex education does not appear to be the issue and neither are lessons regarding improper behavior adults to children.

What appears to be at issue is gender identification in early education. In particular the gender identification of the child in the child's own eyes. That IMO should not be breached as aa topic of discussion between educators and 3rd graders the vast majority of which students will not even know what the hell the teacher is talking about.

However, teachers need to be prepared for questions like "why does Tommy have two daddies?" They need to be able to answer that question because there may be no place else the child can go that he feels he can actually even ask the question. Any effort by Desantis to prevent that exchange of information between teacher and child or school administration and child should be snuffed out. Actually if you ask me, Desantis should be snuffed out as a government elected official. But since I don't live I Florida, I don't actually have a dog in that fight.

"stranger danger" covers it fine.

It ****ing does not. Half of child sexual abuse occurs from someone known to the family, or even part of the family.

"If a stranger tries to be friendly to you, scream and run away" won't protect children from step-fathers. And sadly enough, not even Mom will in all cases.

Not taking the subject seriously doesn't make the subject itself trivial. "Age appropriate" sex education may be no more than teaching where on the body is alright for others to touch, but it's sex education all the same.

Do tell what sexual materials and content they are exposing 4-5 year olds to. Are they showing them porn? Did they borrow some of Josh Duggar's kiddy porn? Are they showing them Pam Anderson's leaked sex tapes? Bringing in their favorite edition of Penthouse for reading hour?

Yes, exactly.

Right wing rising star Josh Duggar stuck his finger in his 5 year old sister's vagina during "Bible Time". That was after he was crawling in his other sisters' beds and copping a feel.
