[W:#101]Climate Change Rapidly Intensified Hurricane Ian Before Landfall

I don't fear China. Here's why. China needs customers to sell products to. China needs the USA just as much as the USA needs China. We're all on this planet together.

China doesn't need customers.

They are at present beginning to reduce production for 'security'; reasons. Even a cut back will be disaster for Us and Canadian economies.

Humans already produce more than enough food to feed all humans.

The only reason any human starves is because capitalism rewards the rich and punishes the poor. We need more socialism to redistribute the wealth from those who have stockpiled it like insecure little wealth-grubbers; and to those who are needy and starving.

When every human on Earth has all their basic needs met, the birth rates will fall to sustenance level and the world population will stop exploding.

Science has shown that even for cultures where large families are the norm, within a few generations of comfortable secure life the birth rate drops to 2.3 per couple, birth/death equilibrium.

It is a logical indication that we just need more socialism mixed in with our capitalism.

Thanks for that given how well socialism has done to date

The people of the future will look back on arguments like this and shake their heads in dismay.

Indeed they will as they freeze and starve knowing some people back in the day predicted the outcome of this AGW obsession yet were drowned out by the zealots :(

It is delusional to think we could get away with all the things we have done to the Earth and its atmosphere since the industrial revolution without any negative impacts whatsoever. Purely delusional. Simple logic applied to this whole issue would dispel you of that fiction immediately.

How can it not be true that the renewable technology continues to improve? That's what technology does. Capitalism + technology = improved lifestyles for humans.

What could be a more improved lifestyle than living in a cleaner more energy-secure world with a more stable climate?

Being able to afford to survive for the vast majority in your green utopia. You guys really dont do numbers well given your response

Renewables have had decades to prove themselves yet their net energy contribution globally is still negligible whilst their production costs are vast and require massive taxpayer subsidy

How about links to authoritative sources that back up your claims. Sorry, but I just don't believe them.

We are most successful species ever to have existed and billions have thrived as a consequence of industrialisation yet you feel shame about that ? 😳

Is the world simply too precious for us to be allowed to exist upon it in a modern society in our current numbers or is it back to the caves for us ? Heads up there arent nearly enough caves ;)

Rude alert! No thank you! Not interested.

OK, look.

If you wish to present an opinion, fine.

If you're going to be judgemental, it's like saying you no longer wish to talk. I'll just cut it off.

"(CNSNews.com) - The United States ran a $355,301,700,000 merchandise trade deficit with the People’s Republic of China in 2021, marking the tenth straight year the U.S. trade deficit with China has topped $300 billion, according to data released today by the Census Bureau.

In every year since 2012, the U.S. merchandise trade deficit with China has exceeded $300 billion, according to the Census Bureau, hitting an all-time high of $418,232,900,000 in 2018."

You mentioned 7 things in a few sentences, ice melting( been happening for 12,000 years, sea level rise, also 12,000 years, more intense hurricanes ( we do not have accurate records to say for sure). Changing weather patterns, are they outside the normal changing cycle?
Earth is experiencing overall ice loss. Sure ice coverage has come and gone over the long range history of the planet, but current ice loss has increased in relation to human industrial activity.

We have seen a rise in rapid hurricane intensification during the past few decades. We didn't know enough to predict it for Katrina, but we sure did for Ian.

It is foolish to argue that things which are happening are not happening, particularly when it affects our only habitat and we are the cause. We need to be proactive to protect the tiny blue bubble of livable conditions in a vast space of emptiness that we exist in.

It is the height of human arrogance to think that we can do anything we wish to our environment on a massive scale ( x billions of humans ) and experience no repercussions. What we do has an effect. There are so many of us we are forced to consider the unwanted effects of our industrial activity. We can no longer simply pretend nothing happens as a result of extracting and burning fossil fuels on such a massive scale.

Ice loss has been happening since the end of the last ice age, and will continue until we start to enter another ice age. Human activity can change the rate, but cannot alter the overall cycle.

Rapid hurricane intensification is not new. Hurricanes intensify when they move over warm water.

I do not think I have said we can do anything to the environment without repercussions, so I am not sure what you are arguing.
