At some point MAGAs were going to go after social safety nets to pave the way for more tax cuts for the wealthy.
 
If Democrats were smart they would run someone in every GOP district… whether it is safe or not and hold town halls as candidates every weekend from now until the election.

The MAGAs thought it would be butterflies and rainbows. No more abortions, the border closed, and America “uber alles”. It was a pipe dream from the start, and fueled by massive insecurity and flawed thinking. They are now going to have to deal with their cognitive dissonance.

Musk is the one who decided to gut the SSA and derided Social Security as a Ponzi scheme while declaring that entitlements are "the big one to eliminate." He could always just shut up and go away.

He isnt gutting SSA...he is identifying fraud. Its the rat party selling the notion to simps that is claiming that SSA is being gutted. And if you and the other leftists weren't so invested in your blind partisan hatred you might actually encourage their efforts at finding fraud and waste and eliminating it.

Its comical that there have been so many rat politicians pointing out fraud and wast and abuse in the government...but when Trump is actually doing something about you all shit yourselves.

MAGA folks never thought oligarchy or fascism would be respected they're just sick of the same old establishment crap and see Trump as a middle finger to it. Authoritarianism? They’re ok with it, as long as it’s THEIR party in the driving seat. Temper tantrums? Take a look at Hitler’s behavior. Lot of temper tantrums there.

Trump is attempting to consolidate his power though every means possible. Just like Der Fuhrer did. It’s classic fascism.

Social Security absolutely is a Ponzi scheme. How could you describe it any other way?

Elon Musk was right — Social Security is a Ponzi scheme​


On Social Security, however, Musk is simply correct, and just impolitic enough to say what no one wants to hear.

And liberals did not disappoint with their reaction to defend the program’s moribund status quo. An opinion writer at NBC News offered a representative non-sequitur defense of how the program operates, arguing that “Social Security is a highly functioning, universal and exceptionally efficient part of the American social safety net. It’s the opposite of a Ponzi scheme.”

But the problem is simple and mathematical. When the program started, there were 40 workers paying benefits for every retiree. Now, thanks to a combination of declining fertility, increased longevity and other factors, there are only 2.8 workers per retiree. And so right now, every penny collected from current workers, plus additional money Congress borrows against its rapidly emptying trust fund, is being funneled to the current retirees.

Does this sound familiar? It should, because this roughly is how Ponzi schemes work. They take new investors’ money to pay returns to their earlier investors. For a while, people are happy because they are getting paid. But eventually, the scheme collapses, because there are too many people demanding payouts and not enough new contributors.

So no, Social Security isn’t “the opposite of a Ponzi scheme.” It is just a Ponzi scheme whose collapse is still in the future.
 
Nah, you're totally off base calling Social Security a Ponzi scheme. Sure, the worker-to-retiree ratio's dropped big whoop, demographics shift but that doesn't make it some shady scam. Ponzi schemes are built on fraud, promising fake returns to lure suckers in. Social Security? It's a public system, upfront about how it works current workers fund current retirees. No deception, no hidden collapse waiting to pounce. You're cherry-picking numbers to sound clever, but it's not collapsing it's just strained. Congress can tweak it, raise taxes, or adjust benefits. Ponzi schemes don't get that option; they just blow up. And Musk? He's just tossing out hot takes to stir the pot doesn't mean he's right. The NBC guy's got a point: it's efficient and universal, not some fly-by-night hustle. You're acting like math alone proves your case, but it's not that simple. How do you explain the fact it's been running for decades without crashing? Ponzi schemes don't last that long ever. What's your answer to that?
