This happened in middle Tennessee. The Republican National Committee hired outside contractors, some of whom faked the registrations for financial gain, and politics did not play a part in it. Let me stress that this is not about cheating by the Republicans, in what is supposed to be a close race between Ford and Corker. but the issue should be whether hiring contractors to do the job for either party opens the door for cheating by either party. Personally, I dont think using outside contractors is a good idea. The work should be done by volunteers who are NOT PAID to register voters. By hiring the outside help, the GOP is going to be unfairly labeled cheats attempting to steal and election by some people. They could have avoided this perception, and subsequent loss of votes from uninforumed voters by using volunteers.
Again, I must stress that this is not about trying to steal an election, but about a poor choice to use outside contractors to register voters, which could cause them problems. In that vein, if you have something to post on the legitimate issue, please feel free to do so, but if you just come in here to bash Republicans, please leave. This thread could have just as easily been about the Democrats, who also use outside contractors to register voters, and have been known to give packs of cigarettes to the homeless in order to get them to vote.
