Viral McDonald's brawl between employee and customer started over straw, witness claims

New Year’s Eve didn’t go so well for these people.

A fight broke out between a female McDonald's employee and a male customer at a location in St. Petersburg, Fla., around 6:50 p.m. Monday night, WFLA reported.

In a viral video of the incident, a man identified as Daniel Taylor is seen grabbing Yasmine James by the shirt with both hands and pulling her toward him. She then starts punching him as he holds on. The two go at it for about 20 seconds before the other employees intervene.

Taylor was escorted out of the restaurant and police were called to the scene. On his way out the door, he kicked another employee in the stomach.

He was arrested on two counts of simple battery.

COMMENT:-

That violation of his constitutional rights was, obviously, the straw that broke Mr. Taylor's back and he had no option but to exercise his 1st amendment "freedom of speech" right to show his displeasure.

Right?

Or was he simply a dolt?

Your call.

We must ban straws to stop "straw violence". If not for the existence of straws then this would never have happened.

I pick #2.

and I wonder how much alcohol was involved in his brilliant decision to start a fight.

Failed Topic... nothing more than a Straw Man...

The guy is was reported as being a transient. So I expect his life is full of really stupid decisions. I would hope getting arrested over a straw is the worst, but would not bet on it

I'm still baffled about what the catalyst for all of this was.

Dont worry Cali has got you covered. They banned them last year.

I'm still baffled about what the catalyst for all of this was.

The gentleman was upset that there wasn't a great humongous container of straws sitting on the counter so that he could exercise his constitutional right to keep and bear straws.

The lady attempted to explain to him that it was illegal to do that, but, since the gentleman hadn't heard about the law, he just knew that she was one of those "ANTI-Straw Nuts" who wanted to ban straws so that only criminals would have straws.

In short, the man was ignorant, stupid, and prone to attack women.

Only the plastic "assault straws" were banned - violence caused by other straws will surely continue escalate.

What you said makes no sense and I can't tell if you're joking.

But....were the straws white, or black?

Huh? I have had straws over and over... or is this a joke?

If I recall correctly they can not give them out automatically the customer has to request them if the are plastic. Paper or reusable ones face no restrictions

I'll give you a hint.

The "In short, the man was ignorant, stupid, and prone to attack women." was completely serious. The rest of the post just parallels a lot of "PRO-__[fill in the blank]__" people's posts.

Wheat starws: They ain't investing in non plastic staws for the hell of it.

They were just sitting there in a jar for anybody to grab... and they were plastic. I am in CA for a couple of months and straws are all over the place. Seriously.

Man attacks female employee, she swats him several times, none of her co-workers come to her aid, manager then waits on customer like nothing happened, and female employee gets fired.

The whole thing appears to be ****ed up.

Meh...people that use straws suck anyway.

Let's see now

  1. Man attacks female employee, - YEP - happened
  2. she swats him several times, - YEP - happened
  3. none of her co-workers come to her aid, - NOPE - didn't happen
  4. manager then waits on customer like nothing happened, - NOPE, didn't happen
  5. female employee gets fired - NOPE - didn't happen.

Which alternate universe's news are you reading today?

I guess for that guy it was the straw that broke the McCamel's back.
