(reposting my reply)
Jeez talk about restraint.
I'm the first to criticize the police when they get excessive - this guy was remarkably restrained to the point that he allowed himself to get into a boxing match with the guy.
Thanks for reposting and sorry for the error. This probably could have been handled better (I'm thinking the plainclothes officers could have just followed him until the backup arrived), but, yes, when a cop tells you to do something you should probably do it.
Why? If you ask me law enforcement is just carrying out rules I never agreed to follow.
Why follow the idiot? To have sufficient non-lethal force to subdue him without engaging in a fistfight on the street where you put lives in danger. What if the guy had grabbed the cop's gun, for example?
I don't give a **** about the cop. What part of no one consented to the laws he is enforcing did you miss?
So if you don't like it when a cop asks to frisk you because he tells you he thought you had a knife you're supposed to curse at him, try to walk away, engage in a fist fight with him, and have your cheering section taunt him with a cellphone camera?

Give 'em hell, brother!! We all have the right to ignore laws we don't consent to!
I don't care. He damn well knows no one in existence consented to him enforcing anything. Your question is like asking me if I care if someone stabbed highwaymen. No, no I don't.
And that's why people end up getting tased, maced, and shot. To quote Joshua Harris, "The right thing at the wrong time is the wrong thing.” Presumably, you do care about getting dead, don't you?
I don't see where you get the right to force your laws on me against my consent. When your explaining that maybe you can explain to me where you get the right to assault me, throw me in a cage, do a ****ty job of keeping me safe from bubba and prison guards, and treat me like your slave for however long you decide to keep me there.
I'll wait.
If you want to throw me in that hell I will attempt to kill you. Your only choices are to either subdue me or kill me because I sure as hell am not going freely.
The "sovereign citizen" is just another term for "anarchist". Society has a responsibility to establish and enforce certain rules for the purpose of maintaining order which protects and preserves the rights of all citizens. You certainly have the right to disagree with the rules and plead your case but if you are going to participate in the society then you also need to be held accountable to those rules.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this.
