Verdict reached in CIA leak trial of Lewis 'Scooter' Libby

My guess would be in a post entitled "Verdict reached in top secret document stuffing trial of Sandy Berger"...

Oh wait there was no trail... because he didn't lie to the FBI about it!

One question for you: Do you consider it a crime for the NSA to steal top secret documents?

I believe in limited government, you believe in republicans.

I believe in personal responsibility. You believe in republicans.

I believe honesty and integrity are worth defending. You believe republicans are worth defending.

I believe classical liberalism is good. You likely don't know the origin of the term but believe anything with the word liberal in it is bad.[/QUOTE]

I am not a Republican and I believe that radical liberalism can destroy this country.................

You hit the nail on the head with your last point. Just look at his response.

Hey Chief, tell 'em how you through out your shaving cream because the label said to "apply liberally". :doh

Yes and Berger pled guilty to mishandling of classified documents. He broke the law and was held accountable. By bring it up now, it seems you are making augment that someone else broke the law and was held accountable; therefore Libby should not have to held to account for breaking the law. Double standard much?

Radical liberalism, if one is going to define it as the "liberalism" of the Democrats, is as dangerous as the Neo-Conservative movement which took over the GOP. Both prove direct threats to liberty and freedom and contain in them the tools for the destruction of our great Republic.

Classical liberalism is the opposite of the Republocrats, it's the political ideology of small, constrained government. As it stands now, neither party is a party of small government and thus both parties are threats to liberty.

"Most bad government has grown out of too much government." - Thomas Jefferson

"Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have...the course of history shows that as government grows, liberty decreases." - Thomas Jefferson

My favorite part in all of this was a quote form one of the jurors: basically asking why all this time was being spent on Libby - where was Rove and the others in this?

Libby is the fall guy in all of this.

My favorite quote by Barry Goldwater, who used to quote Jefferson a lot.

This isn't surprising. The only people surprised were the Bush apologists that have the wool pulled over their eyes. However, I still kinda feel sorry for Libby. He had to take the fall for Cheney....and GWB will pardon him in the end, so I don't see him flipping on Cheney.

So much for restoring honor and integrity to the whitehouse.

What "fall" did he take for Cheney and what specifically is there to "flip" on? Cheney didn't do anything wrong. And why is doing exactly as they should have an honor and integrity issue?

How was justice obstructed?

Don't be surprised. I think that the only reason that Libby hasn't cut a deal is that he has been assured by Cheney that it will be taken care of.

What on earth does he have to offer for deal?

Fitzgerald stated that the investigation was already dead when the trial started and there was nothing more to it.

I have known sailors in the Navy get Court Martial for mishandling of classsified documents (Not even Top Secret) and Berger Who held the highest office as the NSA punishment was what?

This is nothing but "gotcha" politics..........I just hope the president pardons him like "Slick Willie" did on his last day in office with Rich and all the scum he pardoned.....It would serve no purpose to send this man to jail........
Guilty means GUILTY...I hope that Libby gets the full 20 years so that he'll finally talk to Prosecutors about Cheney.

The real catch here is Cheney, let's keep our eye on the prize.

For me, I don't care if Libby never serves a day in jaill--I just wanted the guilty verdict because he was unquestionably guilty of perjury.

I agree when it comes to important cases but the Valerie Plame issue was a joke.........When she was so called outted she was little more then a clerk typist..........
Either you're clueless to the facts or you're a liar or maybe both?

Maybe Fitzpatrick will indict you next? :rofl

Scooter Libby was Marc Rich's lawyer, btw. Or did you know?

Re: Libby Guilty of Lying in C.I.A. Leak Case

Let's say it like it is, stealing and destroying documents to save his and his administrations ***. Nary a word about that from the dimocrats and others yet we have had to witness more dimocrat wasting of money on a partisian bs propaganda 'gothcha' trial like this.
Versus the $60 million our government spent trying to nail the Clintons?

Pathetic!

The difference is that Libby IS guilty and CONVICTED....Deal with it! :rofl

A link where the CIA has said that please or are ytou just blowing your usual smoke.....
I guess you just never knew that the entire Fitzgerald investigation started at the request of the CIA?

Did you not know this or are you, like Libby, unable to remember the truth? :rofl

Actually, this thread is about the conviction of Libby, not Sandy Berger. Feel free to start another thread about Berger. I might even join you in that thread, and might even agree with you. However, this is not the appropriate place for it. Meanwhile, let me edify you with a blast from the past, one of my stock answers to what you and people like you post in attempts to change the subject and derail a thread:

Letter from the CIA to Conyers
30 January 2004

The Honorable John Conyers, Jr.
Ranking Democratic Member
Committee on the Judiciary
House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Mr. Conyers:

Thank you for your letter of 29 September 2003 to the Director of Central intelligence (DCI) regarding any contacts the Central intelligence agency has had with the Department of Justice (DoJ) to request an investigation into the disclosure earlier that year of the identity of an employee operating undercover. The DCI has asked me to respond your letter on his behalf.

Executive order 12333 requires CIA to report to the Attorney General "possible violations of criminal law." In accordance with executive order 12333 on 24 July 2003, a CIA attorney left a phone message for the chief of the counterespionage section of DOJ noting concern with recent articles on this subject and stating that the CIA would forward a written crimes report pending the outcome of a review of the articles by subject matter experts. By letter dated 30 July 2003, the CIA reported to the criminal division of DOJ a possible violation of criminal law concerning the unauthorized disclosure of classified information. The letter also informed, DOJ that the CIA's Office of Security had opened an investigation into this matter. This letter was sent again to DOJ by facsimile on 5 September 2003.

By letter dated 16 September 2003, and in accordance with standard practice in such matters, the CIA informed DOJ that the Agency's investigation into this matter was complete, provided DOJ a memorandum setting forth the results of that investigation, and requested that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) undertake a criminal investigation of this matter. In a 29 September 2 003 letter, DOJ advised that the Counterespionage Section of DOJ had requested that the FBI initiate an investigation of this matter.

It'd sure be a small shame to have to remove folks from this thread.

Moderator's Warning:

Why do things have to get so personal?
Let's stick to the thread topic and save all the talk about one another for some other time and place.
It'd sure be a small shame to have to remove folks from this thread.
If you're writing about the posters instead the thread topic, then I'm talking to you.

Did you feel the same way about Clinton?

Watch out now you're setting yourself up to be labeled a "lefty" and you'll be someone's "liberal friend" who pretends to be Conservative but since you do not agree 100% with the other posters exact points of view you therefore must be a stinkin' lefty or worse....(then again what's worse than being a PROGRESSIVE?)

Maybe you can't see the double standard and the hypocriscy but I sure can.........

Its really going to torque your Bush haters jaws when Libby is Pardoned........

Did you feel the same way about Clinton?
Hmmm.....I don't recall this thread being about Clinton or anyone else except Scooterino and maybe his mentor, the man with veins in his veins and who is oh so vain....

Scooter is going to need to watch his back once he gets to prison....the way he watched Cheney's back....which is what's got him a number ID card awaiting him.
