Venezuela's opposition leader on Sunday told The Washington Post that he is engaged in talks with military and civilian officials to oust Nicolás Maduro, who is considered to be an illegitimate leader by the United States and other foreign governments.

Guaidó, who announced himself as Venezuela's interim president last week, said the Venezuelan opposition is speaking to civilian officials and military members who are sympathetic to his efforts to oust Maduro.

Maduro has close ties with the military, which is where the real power lies. So the common thread here is the military. They might wind up trading Maduro for a military junta as so many of these affairs wind up.

What is not mentioned is that Cuba is a significant presence in the Venezuelan government. All the Venezuelan military leaders have Cuban minders. I see that as tending to make the military more resistant to talk of ousting Maduro.

That is the issue, the history of Military intervention in Latin America... Well anywhere, is not exactly very positive and considering the Military is directly involved in an entire host of criminal activity, I cannot see a positive coming out of the military turning on Maduro, at the same time, it's not as if Guaido will come to power and be able to get rid of them, cause they will turn on him immediately as well.

So they turn on Maduro, they then get to continue serving as a General in the Armed Forces and... They're allowed to continue their trafficking in narcotics and god knows what else gravy train?

You would think the leftist liberals in the US would try to connect Trump with Putin in this mess, but I think the truth does not fit the common gutter leftist narrative well.
