Venezuela's medical system collapsed; U.S. Navy treating thousands

Cuba has been exporting doctors to third-world countries for years, training them to work with what will be available where they're going. On a budget slightly smaller than the US Navy. Now that's exceptionalism.

Well, the United States manages to do it without a tyrannical police state at home for political dissidents and those who might disagree with the state's allocation of the country's national resources. Just saying.

There are 2 points I'd like to make about this.

1. Isn't it ironic that Maduro, Venezuela's president, who hates the United States and has blamed us for the troubles they're currently having, watches as the US comes to the rescue of the people that he and his socialist policies have made to suffer.

2. Did you notice that not one time in that MSNBC story, did they ever mention the "S" word? They talked about their economic collapse but never once mentioned that Venezuela is a socialist country, which of course is directly responsible for that collapse.

.

The only exceptionalism is in the fact that Cuba "rents out" its doctors for the benefit of its corrupt government.

"RIO DE JANEIRO — In a rare act of collective defiance, scores of Cuban doctors working overseas to make money for their families and their country are suing to break ranks with the Cuban government, demanding to be released from what one judge called a “form of slave labor.”

Thousands of Cuban doctors work abroad under contracts with the Cuban authorities. Countries like Brazil pay the island’s Communist government millions of dollars every month to provide the medical services, effectively making the doctors Cuba’s most valuable export.

But the doctors get a small cut of that money, and a growing number of them in Brazil have begun to rebel. ...

Socialism is not responsible for that collapse, otherwise all socialist countries would be/have experienced the same collapse, which they haven't. An over-reliance on oil combined with a collapse in oil prices, along with a rubbish leader in Maduro is to blame.

And yet they could not help Puerto Rico....

A shoutout to the United States Navy, Cuba, or any other countries that are helping Venezuela in its time of great human suffering (malnutrition, lack of medical care, etc.).

And let's not forget Venezuela's neighbors, which have accepted (albeit reluctantly) hundreds of thousands of refugees from Venezuela ("Little Venice").

It is the responsibility of the Venezuelan people to deal with their political future. In the meanwhile, other countries should concentrate on helping ordinary Venezuelans cope with a nightmarish situation.

Socialism is not responsible for that collapse

Said by every socialist after every collapse. Either that or "not true socialism" as if things would be better if YOU were in charge.

We also mustn't forget that some of our own citizen aren't taken care of by our rather strange HC system. We are not a secret S country, but a nation that is still wealthy and capable of helping t/o the world, yet lacking in our own backyard.
Two edged sword.

Interesting point, but not very factual. Perhaps "not helped as well as we could have"?

If socialism was responsible, every socialist economy would collapse in a similar manner, but they don't. Do you denounce capitalism as a whole when a capitalist country has a poor economy?

Being on the verge of collapse doesn't always make the news. It would be interesting to find some statistics on how many are flooding into socialist vs capitalist countries.

Name one capitalist country that has collapsed like Venezuala.

Did you notice your right wing propaganda masters always talk about Cuba and Venezuela instead of Sweden or Canada?

Yemen is at war. Try again.

You don’t think economic issues can contribute to conflict in capitalist societies?

Off the top of my head, the German Weimar Republic and the US during the great depression.

The United States didn't collapse and The Weimar Republic's failure had nothing to do with capitalism.
