Venezuela's medical system collapsed; U.S. Navy treating thousands

The United States didn't collapse and The Weimar Republic's failure had nothing to do with capitalism.

Please define your goalposts for “collapse” if the Great Depression doesn’t cut it :lamo

The United States didn't collapse and The Weimar Republic's failure had nothing to do with capitalism.

That’s a pretty ignorant statement (hardly surprising considering who it came from).

The excesses of American capitalism at the time ending in the stock markets crash, tanked the global economy which is at least one factor that caused the rise of Hitler given the economic condition Germany fell into.

To say that capitalism is some perfect system without issues simply isn’t right and most of the people calling out socialism in this thread don’t know what it is and don’t actually understand why Venezuela ended up in the place it’s in.

America due to its excesses nearly tanked the entire global economy again in 2008, people don’t realize how close to the brink we really came and it was only due to the extraordinary actions of central banks around the world among other players that turned an economic Armageddon into a disaster that was somewhat recoverable.

That isn’t an endorsement of wholesale socialism which it’s been proven doesn’t work, but Venezuela gets turned into some kind of bully club to say

“Yah see libs you want things like UHC, you’ll end up like Venezuela”.

That’s not true, that’s stupid and ignorant and wrong and the entire rest of the industrialized world proves that it’s wrong.

And Venezuela's collapse had nothing to do with socialism. Anyway, you asked for a capitalist country that collapsed, you said nothing about causes.

Venezuala is more evidence that socialism doesn't work. Under their current system, they will never recover.

It has everything to do with socialism. Socialism caused Venezuala's collapse.

Venezuela hasn’t collapsed either

When your citizens are slaughtering zoo animals for food, your country has collapsed.

We also mustn't forget that some of our own citizen aren't taken care of by our rather strange HC system. We are not a secret S country, but a nation that is still wealthy and capable of helping t/o the world, yet lacking in our own backyard.
Two edged sword.

Indeed, but simply rewarding individual social, educational and/or economic failure is not addressing its root cause. Avoiding having 12% to 15% of your population continuously dependent on government handouts is better than simply keeping them that way even if you could afford to do so (which our growing federal deficit/national debt seem to indicate that we cannot).

Regardless of the economic system, Latin America's problems are partially attributable to the "caudillo" culture, which is why Venezuelan socialism will be different than Scandinavian socialism.

You should read some Great Depression stories man

HUH?

Venezuela is a mixed economy, though with a socialist lean to it. But regardless, the problem was an over-reliance on oil and a terrible leader in Maduro.

And government take over of private businesses.......right?

Government takeover of private business does not cause hyperinflation as seen by the many, many countries which have done that without causing hyperinflation. What is happening in Venezuela is similar to what happened in the Weimar republic, which was a capitalist economy.
