What's a socialist government to do? There has been an acute shortage of toilet paper in Venezuela for months so the government does what comes naturally; it takes over the largest factory in the country making TP.

Why? The government of President Nicolas Maduro believes there is a conspiracy to hoard toilet paper.

Venezuela also nationalized oil fields despite the fact that drilling permits were paid for by the spanish companies who got shafted because of the nationalization.

Good luck having venezuela find foreign investment anytime soon.

I highly doubt Obama has designs to nationalize much in the way of industry.... so i dismiss that question out of hand.

as for Venezuela, I highly doubt they DON'T have design to nationalize much in the way of industry.... that particular government has no real use for a private sector, they love them some consolidated centralized power in the hands of the very few... they're socialists after all, it's what they do.

One wonders about the extent of popular usage impacted by this outrage.

Then again...

Whoever holds the toilet paper, holds the power :)

Unless...

He won't bother with TP. He'll start off with a program to reward people who compost their ... refuse ... with tax credits, then later on he'll ban toilets.

By the way, what does Obama have to do with the latest in Venezuela? Did he expose the TP-hoarding conspiracy?

There's always the Sears Catalog. Oh I forgot they don't print it anymore. Maybe the NY Times will finally be found of some use.

Remind me never to shake hands with someone from Venezuela.

America may still be in an economic pit, but Venezuela economically is ****ed. America can recover from this but it would take a miracle for Venezuela to emerge from the ****hole it's found itself in thanks to Chavez.
