Venezuela: how the socialist paradise turned into debt and hyperinflation hell

Here, for your edification should you choose to look at it, is the real definition of socialism. Note: That is what was tried in Venezuela. It is not what is being tried in Europe. It is not what Bernie Sanders is advocating.

What you feel is "the real" definition is, is irrelevant.

Now, if you so choose, you can continue to post using your own creative definition of the term, but this is the real one:

Yes, I do choose to say what I damn well please while keeping within the rules of this forum. Freedom of speech is a beotch, ain't it? lol

You're free to disagree with the dictionary if you want. What was tried in Venezuela was real socialism, the definition I gave. What is being done in Europe, what Bernie Sanders calls "social Democrat" is something else altogether.

I didn't argue that. My argument was that the state and the people are not synonymous. Socialism calls for government (not the people) to control production. So I disagree with the dictionary. I think it is a poorly thought out definition.

I think it is a poorly thought out definition.

The word, "socialism," and its meaning, has been made convoluted by the left. Much like the meaning behind the word, "racism." Leftists throw it around so much it becomes essentially meaningless. But, like I have always maintained, the left are like locust, they destroy everything in their path.

OK, then, you go ahead and define words any way you want. If you want to call a chair an apple, go right ahead. Just don't expect the rest of us to eat that apple

With another story about the unraveling of Venezuela due to years of socialist policies, it's hard to believe that there are millions who want socialist government rule here in the US. Socialism turns a society into one of government dependence, low productivity, less freedom, and a hell of a lot of poor families.

Here are a few excerpts from a very long article:

Sorry, but Venezuela may have been a lot of things, but it never was a paradise IMO. It was a highly undemocratic demagogue system meant to keep a few people in power under the ruse of "socialism" and "fairness". Because it is not really socialist if it a system that just enriched a small group of people (this time instead of old money or conservative politicians in it for themselves) which pretended to be "for the people" while doing everything in their power to screw the people over so that they could remain in power and enrich and empower themselves more and more and more.

Chavez and Maduro are crooks, cheats, dictators, violent undemocratic demagogues who did not care about socialism or prosperity for the people, they were in it for themselves as were all other members of their political elitist movement.

True socialism should not have elitists, that is namely the total opposite of what socialism in most socialists minds is about.

I hope Maduro and the rest of the so-called socialist scum are soon in their proper place, jail or exile (preferably in jail so that the cannot live out their lives in the lap of luxury but live out their lives in squalor).

Now yer talkin'. :)

So, now tell us why the kook left in America loves socialism so much when it's failed repeatedly around the world. Or in the process of failing.

The ONLY way socialism will avoid having corrupt elitists, if it's a nation of robots. Human nature always ruins socialism. ALWAYS.

That is why communist like socialism can never ever ever work. People are vain, jealous and never satisfied with anything.

Yeah but that never stopped the kook left from trying.

No, it is people who want to do the best for everyone (but especially the "working class") but either get corrupted by their power or the movement gets taken over by a bunch of cynical abusers of the original ideas.

The health industry.

Health is a service, not an industry. An industry is a means of production. Education is funded collectively, i.e. by the government. So are highways and bridges. Those things all help us to be successful, but none of them are the means of production.
