Venezuela: how the socialist paradise turned into debt and hyperinflation hell

Ever notice that when someone says "just sayin'" what they're just sayin' is a bunch of hooey?

ROTFLMAO. Ever notice when leftists tough anything it turns to crap?

Now, let's get back to the crap storm created by socialists in Venezuela, and which leftists so desire for America.

I just compared NYC to zurich.
Cost of Living Comparison Between Zurich, Switzerland And New York, NY, United States

pretty much everything is lower in NYC except rent than in zurich.
so you need all that extra money just to pay the higher cost of everything.

it pretty much is a wash in the end. you live in a even lower costing area of the country
and the gap is way wider.

it is a difference of nothing except they pay way more on everything they own.

So, the standard of living in NYC is the same as it is in Zurich?
Crime, child poverty, teen pregnancy, educational level, all that is the same?

How, then, is Switzerland suffering from its "socialism"?

Ever notice how some people like to lump disparate philosophies together and label them as "socialist" or as "leftist"? Ever notice how that sort of thinking ignores any critical thinking?

No one wants for the US what they have in Venezuela. No one. No one in Europe wants what they have in Venezuela, either.

Yep. Leftists very much want the US to be a socialist cesspool because you people can't stand to live life without big gov't wiping your butt. LMAO

Now, say, if you would like to talk about how a wonderful socialist sewer Venezuela is, then post something on it.

nope it isn't I guess you missed all those things that pretty much said that it costs more than NYC.
but myopic is myopic.

I suppose if I did think Venezuela was wonderful, then you could refute my arguments. Since I don't, you can't.

Yes, and sometimes you get what you pay for.

I think it costs more to live in Santa Barbara than it does in Watts as well.

If anything Venezuela proves once again socialism is a failure. But leave to leftists, they'll try again and expect different results. When will they learn?

Denmark has the highest taxes in Western Europe......yikes, and France ?

How in the hell did we get to the point where we envied and want to emulate France ?

Run by a idiot Socialist, the French Govt thought it was a good idea to raise taxes on the " Rich " to 75%. Is was supposed to fix " disparity ".

It didn't, foreign investment dropped off by 77% the following year and the tax increases had to be scrapped

Sanders promotes the same kind destructive and foolish initiatives that would drive out capital investment and destroy whats left of a already weak economy

My god, I'm agreeing with Fenton.

Nobody, but nooo..body is advocating Venezuelan style socialism in the United States.

Nobody.

Now, let's take a look at Denmark, at Finland, at France, and other nations that actually have put into place some of the policies that really are being advocated by some here.

When they go the way of Venezuela, then get back to us. We'll be waiting.

Denmark has the highest taxes in Western Europe. . . Yikes !

France ? Man how we've fallen so far.

How in the hell did we get to the point where we envied France to the point of wanting to emulate their Socialist examples ?

Hollande raised taxes to 75 % ( to fix disparity. ...Lol ). The following year foreign investment dropped off by 77 % and the tax increases had to be scrapped

They didn't fix disparity, they CREATED disparity. Such are the consequences intended or otherwise of foolish Socialist initiatives

Sanders plans on doing the same thing. Raising taxes on Corporations and investors and the " rich ", empowering Unions and increasing spending exponentially

Driving away Capital investment and private sector investment in our economy.

He doesn't want to raise taxes because its a sound and intelligent Economic proposal that would lead to new job creation. No, he wants to raise taxes because its " fair ", and thats what makes Sanders like any other idiot Socialist out there

His ideas are grounded in a twisted and toxic ideology that actually believes the Govt should be the arbiter of whats " fair " and equal and that acquiring wealth creates poverty

What is wrong with this syllogism?

No car in town is faster than George's Corvette.
My Yugo is faster than no car in town.
Therefore, my Yugo is faster than George's Corvette.

Figure out why that little syllogism doesn't work, and you'll understand why your comparing socialism in Venezuela to socialism in Europe doesn't make sense.

Since Trump also has advocated raising taxes on the rich, I suppose that's what will happen regardless of who is elected.

Right?

So you didn't see the Comrade BS interview. You should watch it.

What's wrong with the syllogism in post 36?
Hint: It has nothing to do with comrade BS interview. It has to do with word meanings.

Venezuela Drifts Into New Territory: Hunger, Blackouts and Government Shutdown

By NICHOLAS CASEY and PATRICIA TORRESMAY 28, 2016

CARACAS, Venezuela — The courts? Closed most days. The bureau to start a business? Same thing. The public defender’s office? That’s been converted into a food bank for government employees.

Step by step, Venezuela has been shutting down.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/28/world/americas/venezuela-economic-government-collapse.html?_r=0

Yeah, socialism is wonderful.

I like how Maduro dodges responsibility for another failure in socialism by blaming the US. I think the guy learned how to be a good leftist from some silly a$$ lefty here in the states. We seem to have an over abundance of them, it wouldn't surprise me if he did. Anyhow, it's an interesting article that illustrate once again the failures of socialism.

it is.

Now,define: "socialism."

it is.

Now,define: "socialism."

Uh-oh. Dang, you caught me. Shoot, I'm had now. LMAO

Try looking it up, I mean it is the 21st century and, well, it really is easy with the www and all. LOL

Here, for your edification should you choose to look at it, is the real definition of socialism. Note: That is what was tried in Venezuela. It is not what is being tried in Europe. It is not what Bernie Sanders is advocating.

Now, if you so choose, you can continue to post using your own creative definition of the term, but this is the real one:
so·cial·ism
ˈsōSHəˌlizəm/Submit
noun
a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

It would take either a hard core Communist.....or someone really ignorant to continue defending Socialism at this point when the evidence of it's destruction is so clearly self evident.
And please, don't put butter creme frosting on a s **** cake and call it "Democratic" Socialism. It's as phony as all the other leftist labels swinging from the vines lately.

Socialism is about expanded government. Expanded government leads to more government power and control. More government power and control leads to corruption. Corruption combined with too much government control leads to states like Venezuela.

Most liberals and Progressives, for the most part are not defending Socialism in this thread. Because the argument for it has become asinine given the evidence.

I disagree. To me that is the definition of communism. Socialism has the means of production run by the state. Not the same thing. Venezuela is a socialist country, not a communist one.

You're free to disagree with the dictionary if you want. What was tried in Venezuela was real socialism, the definition I gave. What is being done in Europe, what Bernie Sanders calls "social Democrat" is something else altogether.

As what was mentioned earlier, when people defend any kind of socialism, they always seem to make it out to be all puppies and kitties. Happy little workers all living in some Utopian setting, where everyone is equal, happy and well fed. They make it out to be such a wonderful little system where everyone plays nice, and respects each other, and just loves loves loves everything.

What do the defenders seem to forget? Government.

Intrusive, overbearing, megalomaniacal oppressive government. The defenders never think that, at any time, those that are in government won't go "Hugo Chavez." They think that there's no way human beings wouldn't introduce Soviet-style politics and cronyism. There's no way we'd EVER end up like Venezuela, with massive deficiencies in food, medicine, etc. There's no way anyone would ever put personal gain in front of that happy little Utopia.

Bull. Dreamers gonna dream, but the naive ones are the folks who fail to understand that the human element always causes socialism to fail.

Here’s the problem. Leftists in the US DO want this kind of socialism in the US. They very much desire, and will use violence, or other means, to achieve total socialist control over Americans. Look at all the violence being conducted by leftists right now, especially from supporters of Comrade BS. These people are like locust devouring everything in their path.

Just look at the Trump haters, especially the ones sporting Mexican flags. They know if he wins the honeymoon is over.
