Vance flops big time on Meet The Press. Doubles down on his offensive "Cat Lady" comment.

The Trump campaign would do much better to keep Vance on "Foxsnooz" or some other Trump supporting network where we he can better handle the interview.
When you watch Vance being interviewed away from Fox, a couple of things become apparant very quickly.
First, Vance becomes arrogant and defensive when questioned about an unpopular statement or position. Much like Trump, he has little tolerance for being "challenged".
Second, Vance refuses to apologize when his mistakes are brought up. Much like Trump, Vance employs the "double down" tactic.
After watching Vance, I am convinced that Trump would have liked to have had Don Jr. as his running mate. Given that this would not have been a good campaign decision, Trump chose the closest "Don Jr. clone" that he could find.

Was that the interview done by the Indian-American woman? She absolutely killed it and I'm normally disappointed by mainstream media interviews.

He's another great example of why ambition doesn't equal happiness. He was a best selling author and was doing fine. Now look what he's dealing with. He'll never get out from under it. His boss could have kept on with his rackets for the next decade or two. However, he went for the presidency, and it has damned near ruined his life.

My advice is that if you have political aspirations, go for the senate. If you make it there, stop. As Tom Waits said in The Fisher King, "Red. Go no further. Booeep Booeep Booeep."

Lots of MAGA were crowing about what a good job Vance did on this interview.
Other than the obvious astroturfing they do for MAGA, maybe some are just honestly tired of seeing Trump ramble and lie..the schtick is old. Seeing Vance, a newer face, speak more coherently, has them jazzed.

From what I saw, he just does what ever other Republican in Trump's orbit right now does.
- Trump-splains everything...no, he didn't mean that...what he REALLY meant was this other less dumb/false/absurd thing! Honestly!

I thought it was pathetic. Not as pathetic as his candid donut shop visit. Clearly he's been practicing interviews to explain away Trump's nonsense, but he hasn't been practicing his "how to be a normal person" skills.

Vance candidly told us Trump is like America's Hitler. A rare truthful moment he never thought he'd have to back off from for his own personal political again.

JD Vance is a follower of the Dark Enlightenment ideas of Curtis Yarvin, Nick Land and Peter Thiel. He is not going to back down on his position that "parents" (read fathers) should have more votes than the childless because it is what he genuiniely believes. Just like he will not ever completely retract the idea that divorce should be banned, because it is what he believes.

Funny, I just rewatched that movie 2 weeks ago. I'd forgotten the legendary Tom Waits played a small role in it.

It's like Republicans are trying to piss off every woman in the entire country except for those who hate minorities and some evangelicals.

What do Vance, Trump, and their supporters have in common?

Any guesses?

That's on my list of all time favorites. It's an incredible movie.

Vance and Trump have one very obvious thing in common - they'll talk to the press (any and all press) and they'll take lots and lots and lots of questions!!!!!!

Ah yeah sure man.

But when all the answers are weird or lies does it matter?

Same happened to Don-old. He was getting away with all kinds of scams and not being scrutinized. Filthy rich, plenty of power, had it made. But his ego wasn't being stroked enough. He had to get the really big head and go for the most public office in the land, with the most scrutiny into the individual. Now, all his dirt came out and he's in a very precarious legal situation of having to win or face a very strong likelihood of going to prison for the rest of his life.

He had it made, and then he gambled big.

Will it pay off for him?

Or will he lose his freedom and any resemblance of a reputation.

It doesn't look good for him at all.

Why?

He had it made.

What a dumb move.

And sink their favorability numbers with each answer. I'm loving it, as I'm sure the Harris campaign is as well.

Sure, and I am glad they talk and take lots of questions, because every time they do.......................................... (you can finish the sentence).

Agree 100% - it's one of those movies that I wish I could watch for the first time again.

Vance did fine in that interview. He answered her questions perfectly. I don't see how any sane person can believe he failed that interview other than half-blind and deaf Democrats. Honestly, I think Harris is probably the dumbest, least qualified candidate for President in my lifetime.

The full Meet the Press interview below. In the interview Vance really fumbles the "childless cat lady" issue by indicating that women can't juggle a career with child raising. But men can?

Kristen Welker demonstrates why The Big 3 networks eclipse cable news when it comes to journalistic quality.

I watched the interview. I'm not sure about why you saw it the way you do but I would strongly disagree. I watched the interview with two people who are communications/mass media experts. Their views are very different from your claims.
Vance is never "arrogant" nor "defensive". I'm guessing when he answers questions and defends positions that immediately ranks as arrogant and defensive in you opinion. Ever attended an actual debate competition, not a Political Q and A side show, but a true debate competition? If so you would see that Vance approached this in that way.
As far as being questioned on "unpopular statements or positions", of course every statement and position made by Vance or Trump is going to be unpopular with Kristen Welker. She's obviously not unbiased. I only wish Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris would sit down with Ms Welker and ungo as agressive an interview as JD Vance did.
Simple defending policy or statements isn't intolerant nor arrogance. I just think you bias is showing here. Welker tried hard to leave every question with her own opinion inserted as the "truth". Hardly a professional stance for an interview. She tried to end answer Vance gave with a defense of democrats attacks on Trump/Vance positions. Seemingly her intent was to defend democrats.
As far as an apology, when do you see politicians doing that? Did Biden or Harris apologize for Abbey Gate?
Doubling down, is political speak for anytime a candidate sticks with a position the opposition is against.
Vance gave an interview that Kamala Harris nor Tim Walz is willing to give. He answered every question. He defended and explained every position and was patient, clear, articulate, fact based and countered her attempts to defend democrat talking points.

Maybe they should rethink that!

The difference here is that, in his mind, men come home after a day's work, put up their feet and wait for supper.
Women come home to start cooking and cleaning and look after the kids, all wile looking their best.
Thanks

That's what y'all say when Trump speaks. The man can't follow his own train of thought but y'all are hanging at his every word like it's pure gospel.
Honestly, I think Harris is probably the dumbest, least qualified candidate for President in my lifetime.
She is more accomplished than the swindling convict any day
