Vaccine mix-up at North Carolina Walgreens results in saline injections instead of COVID-19 treatment

image.jpg

The latest vaccine mishap amid a global effort to inoculate the general public against coronavirus occurred at a Walgreens in North Carolina. Workers at the pharmacy in Monroe confirmed on Friday they mistakenly gave some people an injection of saline instead of the treatment for COVID-19.

----Ummmm...excuse me. I do not believe a single word of this.
It is impossible unless the pharmacy is "re-bottling" the vaccines on site.
Is that possible, is it ethical, is it advisable by either J&J, Pfizer or Moderna?
I don't think so.
I think that there is much more to this story than meets the eye right now.

I think this may be a case of a lone pharmacist who buys into the whole "plandemic" thing and he believed he was sparing people from the evil vaccine, (by giving saline injections) and he/she got caught. But because she/he is well connected to sympathetic muckety mucks, they're helping this person make up a cover story.

What are your thoughts?

Definitely sounds like an anti-vaxxer trying to push their own point of view.

Vaccines are shipped frozen and concentrated. They are diluted with saline before being administered. That's where the screwup likely occurred.

Almost certain guilt.

The only real window of doubt is around whether they bought fake vaxx from a shady supplier, which is less than likely with how it's all set up. There's no way the pharmacists accidentally draw from something marked saline rather than this vaccine. You and I would know what to look for. We might not know proper opening/injection/storage techniques but.....we aren't going for the ****ing saline.

The instructions for mixing the Pfizer vaccine with saline are here. Looks like someone screwed up the steps, or probably missed mixing the concentrated vaccine with the saline. Likely an honest mistake.

Fake vaccine at Walgreens! Women, minorities and un-aborted fetuses hurt worst.

But it says not to use the needles for administration to mix the saline. Would it be that easy to mix up the needles?

It's more likely they failed to mix the vaccine, and gave just the saline instead.

Somebody better start doing some talking. This is B.S.

We're not mixing housepaint at Lowe's.

If so, then yes it's the KIND of honest mistake that happens when HR doesn't bother hiring people who can read and follow directions.
Not much of a save but at least you've helped rule out the idea that it might have been intentional.

Was this an error by the staff or deliberate sabotage? Going to wait for more evidence before drawing any conclusions.

It’s called a placebo which is needed n any experiment. No doubt it necessary because you don’t want too many side effects showing up in one place. I’ve said this from the beginning....,pray you get the placebo.

They aren't supposed to be giving placebos now....

I'll go with that explanation. Makes more sense.

Now that @Allan pointed to the fact that Pfizer gets its concentrate mixed with saline, I can see how it's possible that it could have been accidental however that accident arose from straight incompetence.
It's not unusual for mixups in medications to occur. One study estimated that as many as 250,000 Americans die each year as a result of medication errors. Similar error rates exist in Canada.

But again, if your earlier post is right, and I have every reason to believe that it is, this is STILL "the most basic of screwups imaginable".
I read the PDF, and sorry, while I may not be a doctor or any kind of medical professional, there's still more steps to making a microwave TV dinner than there are in the PDF.
Adding a milliliter or two of sterile saline as an admixture to thawed vaccine concentrate is about as simple as it gets.
So this is the medical equivalent of putting windshield washer fluid in your gas tank, or gasoline in your windshield washer reservoir.
My point is, incompetence is a known factor but if a person can't get something this basic straight without screwing it up, perhaps HR picked from the wrong late night cable TV medical diploma mill nurse training academy.

And maybe HR came from the same diploma mill.
Anyway, I wouldn't trust them with so much as a mentholated toothpick.

How could they possibly have "mixed up" saline solution and a vaccine that has to be stored a certain way? Odds are really good that this was intentional.

And to think in about an hour I'm going to be getting my vaccine here in NC. It is at a CVS but still.

According to the PDF, the vaccine is super cold and must be thawed, and it is a concentrate, thus saline is added in order to get the full number of doses per vial. In addition, the PDF stresses that syringes used to add the saline must NEVER be used to inject vaccine into people, thus anyone who knows how to read and follow the most basic directions knows that they MUST use a fresh syringe for every vaccination.
There is even a remote chance that several people may have been injected with one common syringe, which would be downright criminal negligence.
