These reports are from August. I don't remember either, but CBSN reran their original newsclip this morning. It touched my heart, evoked my patriotism and slapped some sense into the holidays. No doubt CBS re-aired this for Thanksgiving.

I'll link an AP report and the newsclip. Both short and worth the time. Everything has been politicized today, including the holiday season, so after watching that clip, do you feel proud to be an American? Thankful for Pvt. Adler? Thinking, "This is what Christmas should be about?"

Happy holidays everyone. I think good news like this is sorely needed.

Yes, I wish there were a "good news" newspaper or at least monthly magazine.

But such publications have quickly gone out of business.

If it weren't for some good human beings, it would be impossible to survive this veil of tears.

I remember reading that there were a few Nazis who could not stomach the inhumanity of their government.

One story tells about a Nazi guard assigned to accompany Jewish children on a train to their assigned deaths. When the train (which consisted of open freight cars) came to a temporary stop, the guard got off and returned with a cup of hot chocolate for at least one of the children, who later said that he credited the liquid for saving him from the cold. And as word got out about the train, civilians stood on bridges under which the train would pass and threw food down into the open freight cars. (Tears are welling up as I type this.)
