US truckers are set to organize their own freedom convoys to protest against govt overreach on COVID-19 restrictions:

A group of US trucker convoys — inspired by the weeks-long demonstrations north of the border — are joining protests against COVID-19 restrictions and mandates in several cities.

The Great American Patriot Project started the American Truckers Freedom Fund on Wednesday and urged truck drivers to join three convoys to Washington, DC, next month.

The political action committee said it was launching the motorcades in the first month of March. One would travel from California through the Southwest and Deep South to DC. Two others would originate in Ohio and end in the capital.

“I don’t think that anybody wants to be told what to do,” Erica Knight, GAPP spokeswoman, told Fox News. “They don’t want to deal with these mandates and it’s kind of a way to stand up for all the American people against it.”

Knight said American truck drivers were inspired by the Canadian demonstrators, who were protesting vaccine requirements imposed on their solitary profession. Solo domestic truck drivers were not under federal vaccine mandates in the US.

Huh.

As Greenbeard pointed out, your article states "Solo domestic truck drivers were not under federal vaccine mandates in the US."

Facebook said Friday it removed trucker and convoy groups run by overseas actors. Many anti-vaccine and conspiracy-driven groups have moved to embrace convoy organizing.

Alternative thread headline: Billionaire-backed Super PAC known for peddling right wing lies seeks to recruit truckers for convoy spreading right wing lies. Alex Philips, head of GAPP and the American Priority Conference, has a long history in right wing bullshittery. Not surprising at all that the Post would say that "truckers" are "organizing" to make it sound more grassroots when in reality it's a campaign headed by a known extreme right wing operative.

Manufacuturing more BS outrage in order to get the righties to empty their wallets one more time.

I'm all for the Canadian protest but I'm failing to see what US truckers are upset about. Already we've seen numerous Dem governors lift their mandates after seeing the Canadain protest and we don't have government mandates anywhere close to Canada.

Don't think this US envoy will enjoy the same support as our Canadian friends.

Trumpsists love to complain about empty store shelves.
I hope they are against the trucker convoy. Nothing like keeping them store shelves empty.
Biden shills have been blaming the pesky "supply chain" for all the inflation which is actually being caused by the Biden govt's non-productive spending (any spending that doesn't improve productivity will automatically increase the supply of money relative to goods/services, which automatically results in inflation).

Now, with a truckers' strike, Biden shills can actually point to supply chain workers to blame them.

Ahhh - those silly workers - the ones whom the Left have claimed to represent all these years. Silly blue collar deplorables - like truckers, farmers, etc.

The Left-wing elites have decided to switch over to Wall Street, and love to make speeches at Goldman-Sachs, etc. The Lefty elites have outgrown those silly deplorables, and have moved on to more lucrative pastures. Never mind that these wealthy investment bankers don't quite add up to as many votes as those blue collar deplorables. That problem can be solved by eliminating Voter ID and filling in lots of mail-in ballots in the name of heaven-knows-who.

We're like George Orwell's Animal Farm in real life now.

Which non-productive spending is that?

It's written in the first sentence of the article who this is being organized by. Nice try at projecting the fake populism of the article headline, though.

It's like a protest looking for a cause.

Just what mandates are these independent American truckers under?

All they are gonna do is burn up a bunch of diesel on their own dime, and clog up some roads causing others to burn up fuel waiting for them.

Burning up a bunch of fuel needlessly will cause fuel prices to rise.

And then they'll go and complain about fuel prices.

I liked the comment about store shelves, too.

Paying people to stay at home certainly isn't helping productivity, and is only driving inflation.

Most of the infrastructure bill isn't about infrastructure -- the word infrastructure has been redefined to mean anything Dems wants to shower with money. That's inflationary too.

What mandates? Best I can figure most States have dropped, or in the process, of dropping them. Day late and a dollar short.

Think you may have been out of the loop for quite sometime. Nobody is being paid to stay home and the Infrastructure Bill that has passed is almost 100 % hard infrastructure.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that particular wrinkle.

Pandemic payments were approved by Trump with a republican congress. Remember, he wanted his name on the checks?

There isn't any such thing as "non-productive spending". Money that goes into the economy and circulates is by definition real economic demand. The idea that money could be both non-productive (i.e. not demand-inducing) and circulating is nonsensical.

Today I learned that conservatives don't believe supply chains.

Things just magically appear on store shelves.
