Can't see this up in Breaking News yet so I'll post it.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/5092072.stm

It's not been confirmed by the US military yet but this is making the news headlines here in the UK. I feel quite gutted as I mentioned in a post the other day that I thought coalition troops captured would fare a lot worse than the prisoners of Guantanamo, hope that doesn't come to pass. Heres hoping that these two are rescued.

This one hits VERY close to home. One of the two men who are missing is the son of a co-worker. Here's part of an email asking for prayers for him that I got this AM...

Since hearing the news of Tom's disappearance it has been a very emotional roller coaster for many of us , from shock to frustration to helplessness and then to anger . I personally have settled on FIERCE PRIDE, pride in the many young men and women who defend our country every day, I'm also very proud to work along side honest and hard working people like Wes and Meg Tucker who found time to raise a young man who chose to leave all that America has to offer him as a civilian and instead chose to join the Army and help protect and defend this great country. Please join me in praying for the safe return of Tom to his Loving family.

This is from the supervisor and close friend of Tom's parents. His message reflects the attitude of millions of Americans, including myself.

I'd like you to extend my condolences to them, in this difficult and heartbreaking situation. I will stand strong for them as should all Americans! Hopefully they will return safe.

"We will never stop looking for our service members until their status is definitively determined," said Maj. Gen. William Caldwell.

Isn't Pvt. Shawn Maupin still missing from around the time of invasion??

Man, I hope they find them.:(

I hope they are not tortured.

I might start a new thread on this, but does it strike anyone else as odd, that the White House is referring to these soldiers as "kidnapped" rather than "POWS"?

This is war, are soldiers were captured, they're Prisoners Of War. Period.

I think the reason the WH is using "kidnapped" and "crime scene" is because it would bring up the fact that those that we hold in captivity at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib aren't bound by the rules of the Geneva Conventions. They're "detainees" or "enemy combatants"

I hate to say this, but if the soldier's captures are politically savvy, they will exploit this fact to the nth degree.

At at time like this, I could care less what the White House calls it.
Those Muhammed Akhmed ****ers over there really piss me off.

No, it's actually because "POW" status sounds weak in this world. We use words like "crime scene" and Kidnapped", because people here watch a lot of t.v................but it also means we take that s**t very seriously here, and we will kill you dead, and anyone even close to this group of miserable f**ks!

But to each his own I guess.;)

How does the term POW sound weak? I've never heard that before.

When I meet a POW or see a POW liscence plate, the thought that these people are somehow "weak" doesn't even enter into the picture.

Maybe it's a McCain bashing thing left over from Rove and the Swifties attacking McCains service to his country in the 2000 primaries...

doesnt matter what we call them.

the terrorist bastards arent going to treat those soldiers anything like how we are treating the inmates at guitmo.

The reason that the white house uses the term Kidnapped instead of P.O.W.s is that the white house has already stated that those from the other side captured are NOT P.O.W.s.

Now regardless of whether I fee that stance is right or wrong, if the white house considered those that were (in therir words) kidnapped as P.O.W.s they would have to recognize that those the U.S. captures as P.O.W.s which the white house has CONTINUALLY denied.

That is why they use the term kidnapped instead of P.O.Ws.

If the white house recognizes them as P.O.Ws they would have to recognize that the U.S. is at a legitimate war with Al-Qaeda which would mean that those captured from Al-Qaeda would be considered P.O.W.s

That is why.

Your missing the point.

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU CALL THEM!

The fact is that those ****ers have our boys and we need to try to get them back.
I don't like this Administration either, but im not going to try to shift the focus on them once again, this is a military problem, and thats that.

*sigh* I just got a breaking news that they found the two bodies.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Two missing U.S. soldiers in Iraq have been killed, and their bodies found, a spokesman for the Iraq Defense Ministry said Tuesday, according to Reuters. . . .

:(

Heartfelt condolences to both families.

:2usflag: "Lest we forget."

I just cant believe people think we should pull out, and leave the barbarians to roam the earth.

My prayers go out to their families.

.

Mujahedeen Shura Council kidnapped and killed those guys.

Technically theres no uniformed organization to go to war with.
If you really wanted to declare war on someone over there it would have to be a religion. I hope no one really wants that except perhaps the militants.

do you think that this violence against our troops will stop as long as we remain there?

We can't kill them all, when more keep being made.

My thoughts are with the families of these brave guys.

Aren't we at war with terrorist organizations?

more are made whether we are killing them or not.

that said....we may as well take some of them out.

the notion that terrorists will stop being created the day we leave Iraq is idiotic at best.

Those bastards....

Fuggem all. :2mad:

My heart goes out to the familie's too. It is a sad day for us all..:(

My condolences.

It's obvious why they did this, though. A week after the death of Zarqawi, they want to instill a sense of fear back into the American People.

I just hope it comes out as anger against these evil acts.

I hate to say it, but we will not win this war untill we take the gloves off and get serious.

the bastard that took zar qawis place (and supposedly killed these two soldiers himself) should be captured, wrapped in bacon, and and decapitated.

then the film should be "lost" and end up on the internet.

Terrorist organizations aren't uniformed. Besides that, the declarations made by our stupid politicians that we are at war with a "terrorist organization" are erronious.

From Khomeini to Ahmenedajad to Saddam to Ghudafi to Saudi universities that teach on the Muslim Brotherhood to Hamas to the PLO to Hezbollah to wide sweeping oppression to the millions of futureless youth that are guaranteed a life of poverty and ignorance and find hate and blame as a narcotic, to the restriction of the free flow of information to the subjugation of women and to religious fanaticism preached by thousands of Mullahs....

We are at war with a civilization. Where Al-Queda falls, another will rise. Where Saddam falls another will rise. Where Khomeini falls another will rise. Where this terror organization dissipates, others will rise.

There should have been no surprise how this turned out. It is their culture to frown upon "infidels" and it is the "divine right" of their Radicals to kill them.

(Of course, that's not PC enough for today's politicians who simply state that we are at war only with a terrorist organization.)
