My best to their families.

A Navy helicopter from a squadron based at North Island Naval Air Station in Coronado has crashed in the Red Sea with five people aboard, the Navy announced Sunday.

The status of the five is still being determined and search and rescue efforts are underway by helicopters and small boats from the carrier strike group Nimitz, the Navy said.

I am amazed this does not happen more often with as many flight hours as the helos log at sea. Ironically, they are the ones who do the search and rescue when other planes crash into the sea or people go overboard.

My thoughts and prayers to the family and their shipmates.
