They sided with the constitution and established political processes due to congress and all states certifying the election.

I just have an issue with saying they confirmed Biden as if it’s something personal. The confirmed our institutions, reality, voters, and Constitution are who they support.

1st time US soldiers have been quartered in Congress since the Civil War.

Seriously, give them some beds, bunks, comforters.... something.

We had a saying in the army, any fool can rough it, but it takes a soldier to be comfortable. Don't the US Army allow soldiers to carry kip mats, or inflatable mattresses ?

the only time to worry about a soldier is when he quits bitch'n

That's when he's sleeping

First three rules of soldiering:

1. Never stand up if you can sit down
2. Never sit down if you can lie down
3. Never be awake when you can be asleep.

It appears to be an original story that appeared in Defense One written by its editor in chief Kevin Baron who said no one at the Pentagon was identified as having made the decision to deny Trump the traditional farewell on the departure of the CinC from the presidency.

So it's somewhat mysterious how we got to the deserved denial of the event.

Pentagon Won’t Throw Traditional Farewell Ceremony for Trump

The Pentagon, in a break with recent tradition, will not host an Armed Forces Farewell tribute to President Donald Trump.

Trump is escorted by the colonel commander of troops during a joint service ceremony at the Pentagon River Entrance accompanied by the then secretary of defense Mark Esper who Trump fired a few months later.

Trump will leave office in disgrace, one week after the House voted a second time for his impeachment, two weeks after his supporters staged a deadly siege in the Capitol Building, six months after he dragged his Joint Chiefs chairman into a political firestorm, and after four years of nonstop assaults on truth. One of those disgraces is how he is ghosting the U.S. troops that he commanded.

Perhaps it’s for the best. Trump has used the military as a political prop since his first days in office, from signing MAGA hats for troops to giving partisan-fueled speeches in the heart of the Pentagon. American’s soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines have been made to stand at attention for Trump’s rants long enough. Besides, presidential visits are an honor and a headache for any military base that hosts them. The last time Trump appeared before troops was the Dec. 12 Army-Navy game at West Point. Before that, there was a brief Oct. 29 private visit with Army special operators at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as he passed through on the presidential campaign trail.

Various news reports said Trump had ordered up a 7 am departure ceremony Jan. 20th to include the never done 21-gun salute as Trump was to depart to Maralago. The customary departure ceremony is a low key and simple affair after the new Potus has been sworn in at noon, is rarely televised and is held as the former Potus exits to his next destination.

Joe Biden is a level headed politician, unlike the last two Republican presidents and definitely unlike the orange clown, who couldn't think beyond his own ego if he tried.

Only a civilian would make the statement it‘t Biden’s army. In this case it was President Trump who ordered the 25k onslaught for the weekend to Wensday. I said this before but for the record, Biden won more votes than anyone in history, including his old boss, so why with all that popularity would anyone need 25K troops at his inogeration?

The military confirms the constitution.
Exactly right - the military swears an oath to the Constitution. They are neither on the side of Trump or Biden.

Because Trump got 71 million and despite his recent behavior, he sill retains a 29% approval rating.

And never miss a chance to eat or shit.

Plus there are 15K to 20K estimated troops and support who are out of place in DC and who need a billet or a bivouac where they can cut zzzz's, get the three squares of Meals Rejected by Everyone brought to 'em and a place to shit, shower and shave.

Can't take 'em too far to someplace such as Ft. Meade MD, Andrews in MD or Ft. Belvoir VA cause so many NG vehicles are blocking roads, intersections, ramps and large open spaces such as the Mall or the Washington Monument grounds.

So these guys are packed closeby their assigned security stations into armories, gymnasiums, ball fields, government building auditoriums and whatnot.

We've seen the videos and photos of NG grunts on the floor of the visitor's center of the Capitol where their security duty stations are just outside or inside. They're the lucky ones which is why they made the news while others are packed into some hole in the wall someplace near their assigned security stations.

I have no doubt the parade field at close in Ft. McNair in DC is packed full of temporary tents and off limits to media, plus the facilities in the billets and buildings. Nearby Washington Navy Yard with lotsa open spaces is no doubt a base area of pitched tents plus the buildings. Ft. Myer right across the river in VA has two huge fields plus smaller fields in addition to the Old Guard billets of the 3d Inf. Rgt.

This is a huge logistical operation of accommodations, supply, sustainment and the like. Plus the cold weather gear. Classic civil-military op for the NG while also being larger than the norm.

The British army has an invention to cover this - actually stolen from the Romans - it called a tent.

Something big had better happen or the "bread and circuses" crowd is going to be disappointed.

It would be good if you'd been able to recognize the word 'tent' in my post.

For instance: I have no doubt the parade field at close in Ft. McNair in DC is packed full of temporary tents and off limits to media, plus the facilities in the billets and buildings. Nearby Washington Navy Yard with lotsa open spaces is no doubt a base area of pitched tents plus the buildings. Ft. I also used bivouac.

Because not only do you always miss something you read, you rarely get anything you read. Then you waste my time with the flaw.
