Appeasement has worked for decades, not going to stop anytime.
The Islamists eliminated the Pirates and piracy by making it illegal and enforcing the law .... 6 whole months before US and Ethiopia overthrew the Islamist Government allowing piracy to start again :doh
LOL, Puntland abide by laws? Those out of control savages who are in Govt?
Puntland are the ones who are funding it. They have been building ports and smuggling weapons for a very long time.
The govt. gets bribes off the pirates which means that when they are caught, they are released without a hanging
Yeah so Cheney and crew can make a few bucks.
For the second time, we are in agreement here; which is exactly why I am calling these thugs correctly "terrorists" and not pirates.
Ron Paul suggests bounty hunting!

Good idea!
That makes little sense. Explain.
How one can compare the two is beyond me tho ...
(Of course, you're sympathetic to the pirate animals, as you've said in multiple threads, so I don't expect you to be able to see why it's the same thing.)
I just wanted to point out that they're people, not animals. Dehumanizing people gets us nowhere.
They are people who act like animals. Putting a friendly face on it gets us nowhere, either.
Since when do animals hijack ships for money?
Yeeeeeaaah. That's exactly what I was saying.
Wait a minute, is this what Obama promised us? I thought it was the economy stupid. Rescuing is one thing, now he's escalating things.
Just kids with guns... Nothing to see here....
3) As far as I know, Congress has not authorized a war with Somalia, and thus attacking assets within their territory would be a illegal.

If you know pirates operate there and you go there knowingly and it gets hijacked and didn't pack weapons ... They are stupid and should be out of the shipping business.
What is with this sudden boom of media interest in Somali pirates, it's been happening for years .... :S
I'm just saying that it's silly to characterize them as animals just because you are disgusted by their actions. It makes your argument both absurd and purely emotionally based.
These pirates aren't just pirates, their hostage takings fuel the Jihad of al-Shabaab an AQ affiliated organization.
Not according to the war powers resolution of 1973 granting authority to the POTUS to engage U.S. forces for 60 days without Congressional authority.
No try Jihadists with guns.
Prove it.
That's an unconstitutional bill and should be thrown out.
It's easy to hate and dehumanize the pirates. All you have to do to realize that you're in err is exercise your imagination and put yourself in their shoes.
Imagine you're a teenager, a hard worker, but you barely make enough to live, let alone provide for your family. You're strong and tough and you're tired drinking the same water you **** in. One day you are approached by someone who tells you that he can set you up with a comfortable life, but it's a risky business riddled with danger. That's okay, because the danger excites you. It's thrilling.
I'm not saying what they do is "right," but in my mind it's understandable. The "kill 'em all" solution will never work, and we will all have more blood on our hands as a result.
Ummmm . . . how? It's a common convention of speech -- the "metaphor," which you should have learned about in 4th grade or so. Do you actually think I'm literally calling them non-human?
If that's the best you've got to counter what I'm saying, then you don't have much.
Not that I get why you'd want to.

Great analogy
Kinda like the inner city kids who can work at McDonalds, struggle to pay their way through school and pull themselves up out of poverty the good old fashioned way.
or
Sell crack on the street corner and terrorize the community.
They have choices to make. The animals that choose a life of crime get what they deserve.
