US launches mass expulsion of Hatian migrants from Taxas

It may be worth reminding you that America was built on immigration-and that includes your ancestors. Seems destitute Haitians aren't worthy enough for you.

Plus, the United States played such a crucial role in the destruction of Haiti.

I'm specifically referencing Haitian refugees.
Yes... that's their point; These Haitians are huddled under a bridge in south Texas because they left Haiti, moved to South America for several years and then hiked thousands of miles to the United States...

It's unforgivable that the United States inflicts devastating earthquakes, hurricanes and pandemics on the people of Haiti.

Which is a great deal safer than the countries they left-especially Mexico and several Central American countries with their roving death squads, human trafficking and drug gangs. Then again the US has a reputation for turning away refugees fleeing murderous regimes...

They went to Chile and Brazil, not Central America.

They dont support him on this. Derp derp.
Of course they do. Look at his approval rating! The replies in this thread downplaying and dismissing these concerns as partisan cheerleading show pretty clearly how Biden voters feel. They are willing to accept and support his actions in exchange for political power.

Garbage; their country has been ravaged by earthquakes and tropical storms leaving thousands without food and shelter. Where else would you have them go? Anywhere but 'not in my backyard', right? Furthermore how would you imagine those destitute refugees, from one of the poorest countries in the world, could manage to travel over 4,000 miles of ocean to reach Britain? Your country was founded and populated by immigrants-including your ancestors-or did you conveniently forget?

Ok, none of those things make them refugees eligible for asylum, hence illegal immigrants. They come from a crappy third world country that is in a pereptual state of disaster, really sounds like something we want to draw from.

Immigration policy is not about what is best for the immigrant but rather what is best for the nation. It is not in the nation's best interest to take in a bunch of uneducated, impoverished, unskilled immigrants who will immediately become a draw on society.

When the United States was founded the country was built on the idea that you have an opportunity to make it on your own. There was no burden to the state or community at that time. You went west and succeeded or got scalped. Today, people come here to collect tens of thousands of dollars per person in welfare and social programs.

You realize that these Haitians are ~1900 miles away from their home now, right? If you are so committed, get your government to send planes to pick them up, or hell talk to Biden and have the planes we are packing them into sent to Heathrow instead. Fine. Enjoy.

While a nice editorial rant, US asylum law is pretty clear, they are eligible for a hearing...

'Welcome to America' (as long as you're not a refugee).

Being a refugee doesn't qualify you for special treatment under US immigration law in any way shape or form. Seriously, just sponsor a few families to live with you.

Bigotry-alive and well in the land of 'not in my backyard'. Let me guess, you're a 'christian' conservative, right?

No, they clearly are not.

USCIS clearly defines who qualifies for asylum. Coming from a third world country with third world problems doesn't make you qualified.

Why do you think even Biden is throwing them back across the sea? You have a united democratic party chucking them out as fast as they can.

Sorry, we have laws, you talk a tough game with someone else's country, how about you saddle up and go to Haiti and help.

All talk, eh?

An asylum determination hearing is specified in the law... Rant away, court after court has upheld this right to a hearing...

How do you propose that a destitute family of refugees travel over 4,000 miles of ocean?
They aren't destitute; they just traveled thousands of miles from Chile.

There’s a legal way to go about that. It isn’t to illegally cross the border, build your own shanty town, and only cry for asylum when border patrol captures you and for a reason that isn’t applicable under the law. The administration has a zero tolerance policy by executive order because of the pandemic.

Citation. Otherwise all I see is the USCIS definition of asylum, which clearly doesn't include these Haitians.

And now you're being defensive. How sweet.

Nah, it's just comical listening to people across the world tell them to do something they aren't doing for morality purposes.

It isn't remotely comical having to read your bigoted commentary.
