The US Army has officially selected SiG’s designs for the new XM5 and XM250:


It’s a pretty good design. Very powerful round and very accurate at long ranges. My only concern would be that the round might have over penetration problems in CQB and that the rifle is a little long.
 
Also, they look super cool.
 
I’m curious if the Army is going to go all-in on replacing the M240’s in the inventory with the new LWMMG in .338 Norma Magnum.

Yeah i think normally you would want a medium sized rifle for a battle rifle instead of a long gun normally for longer distances.

I’m going to bet the final production model might cut 5 inches or so off the barrel length.
