Hopefully they can greatly reduce nuclelar arms in a fair way. I really dont expect much to come out of these talks, but hopefully it can be a start. You never know...

By invading Iraq and Afghanistan, which did not have credible nuclear programs, yet not attacking Iran and DPRK, the US has given a clear message to all nation-states on Earth. If you are not in the nuclear club and are a declared enemy, the US will invade or will threaten invasion. If you have a nuke, or nuke potential, it will not. Thus, the deterent power of a credible nuclear weapons program has been confirmed. Whether that is a product of coincidence, design, or some other factor matters little. Over the course of the previous 10 years, the US has taught the world that possession of a nuclear weapon is a sure-fire way to prevent a US invasion. The denuclearization of the Korean peninsula is an admirable, yet unachievable strategic ambition.

Only if you consider unmanned drones an occupying force. Pakistan is also an interesting case in nuclear diplomacy.

No, there are armed forces on the ground there. We're massing on the border as we speak.

Indeed we are massing on the border... as for boots on the ground, I don't doubt it, but I don't think anyone would own up to it. I am 100% certain - as the media floated in the last couple of weeks - that there is an actionable plan to secure Pakistan' nukes in the event of instability. BTW - the troop buildup is ostensibly to contend with the Haqqani network... how do you think the ISI / Pak gov't will respond to border incursions that are not "hot pursuit?" Could be a BFD. (Big... deal)
