Granted, the citizen was a bigger idiot than the cop being unprofessional...but...

The cop could have been more professional by immediately identifying himself and stating the reason for the stop. He's not legally required to...but I think it would have gone a long way. AtA gives the cop a B+ and says that he could have used more de-escalation. I somewhat agree...especially if that de-escalation included giving his name and the reason for the stop. But, I just can't fault him much at all. I think he deserved an A- at the least (small quibble).

The citizen was an idiot for claiming that the officer HAD to give him the reason for the stop, talking about how he can legally close his window and lock his door and refuse to exit his vehicle, openly admitting to breaking the law, arguing on the side of the road, resisting arrest, etc... An F if I ever saw one.

Another great video by AtA.

I should have qualified the title. It really should say, "Slightly unprofessional cop pulls over idiot citizen".

The man just needed to comply with lawfully given orders. He was acting like a whiny loser and just needed to hand over his driver's license and paperwork. He did not have to get into a discussion with the officer about why he had to do it and even less obstruct when he was given a lawful order to get out of the car.

They were both idiots... the cop was like a child, choose your battle. If a person wants to know why they were pulled over it is just so ****ing simple to say why... after that, if the driver keeps making demands they are being idiots. The guy was also an idiot. Although initially less of one. It is not unreasonable to ask why you are pulled over because if there was not a valid reason the cop should not have pulled you over in the first place.

EDIT: As time goes on I have to admit the driver becomes more and more of a bitch. He should have gotten out. He deserved being arrested.

I agree but to be fair cops generally just walk up and tell you why they pulled you over... this guy seemed to think he and his son were targetted, or something, so the cop could have saved a lot of grief by just saying, sir, you were speeding.

And the driver was drunk... LOL what an asshole.

The man was a bit short but then again, he had been pretty patient with him and personally as soon as he said he had a weapon in the car and he was making moves into that area so for the officer safely he had to be removed anyway. But he at least at the white safety thing because we all know that black people make officer jumpy, We have seen that with several black (and of course also some white people) but with minorities it goes wrong more often (relatively speaking).

I had a feeling that if he kept reaching around the officer would draw his weapon and get ready to shoot.

People need to be shown the consequences of their stupid behavior. But yes, some officers sometimes loose their cool. But that happens to judges too. But sadly there are no consequences for bad police behavior, some because of there being no body cams and the officer always wins in those cases.

And even body cams are not safe, some "forget" to switch them on, cover them up or worse, cut them during a search. I have seen 2 examples from Chicago where they were looking for drugs but early in the search the sergeant tells the team to "cut the cams".

They almost ALWAYS are DM, Imma say about 99.9% of cases.

Thats why all decent and respectable law abiding people support the Police, and not the morons that go get themselves into jams with the Police.

I dont do cop hater YouTubes...but I would *chuckle* if that fella there was administered a Wood Shampoo by the Officer heh heh heh heh. Do you know what a Wood Shampoo is DM?

Well, its a nice Police baton made of hickory, maybe maple oak or ash.....applied liberally about the Head & Shoulders.😬🤕 YOU BETCHA!!
Back in the day you didnt really see any tasers that I remember....you got yourself a Wood Shampoo if you couldn't behave yourself and mind your P's & Q's.
Wood Shampoos for all obnoxious punks and loudmouthed drunks that just cant seem to "get it".

:LOL::ROFLMAO::giggle:(y)

Then we are going to use this tactic anytime a Trump supporter acts obnoxious? And in this picture, with the abundance of officers present, for anyone to use violence to subdue the 2 protestors in front, well they need to be fired. It is surprising how US police often look like militarized personnel rather than police officers. Another example of how the US police has been militarized with weapons upon weapons upon weapons.

Let's try putting more officers in seats (2 cops per car) and actually proper training, these militarized tactics would most likely not be needed. Even in the Netherlands only in cases with hostages, known or suspected armed people officers ever need to be seriously armed.

Only those working on the arrest and expertise unit (for the entire country about 600 officers) are only armed with a glock 17m and each unit has the ability to use their Heckler and Koch MP5 or the Sig Sauer MCX. But they are only allowed to use these weapons with the approval of the district attorney, usually one is present at a large scale event where these specialist officers are used.

For riots officers also do not run around with automatic weapons, a long baton and shield (with their sidearm) is their gear.

If you arm and train your officers as defacto military officers, they will behave like that. Way too much violence is used in cases where smart and deescalating tactics would have sufficed.

I have said for a while now that police that mute or turn their body cams off should be fired immediately. Departments that do not make them readily available and unedited should be fined and the Chief fired. There is no excuse for covering things up.

People that act like jerks to cops are asshole and looking for trouble, Shit, even if I'm annoyed I still thank a cop after they give me a ticket.

Cops who get angry and act like a jerk based on that because people don't immediately start blowing them for being a cop are just as much of an asshole as well. And they should be professional, but they get power hungry and they have the power but it is not professional.

I have never thanked an officer for a fine. Speeding fines I usually don't know until I get home and the ticket comes in the mail a few weeks later. But that is for automatic camera's. If a police officer sees 2 cars street racing on the freeway, he tries to stop both cars but if that is not possible he will stop one and the other one is fined based on his license plate.

You also don't even get a ticket anymore, you just get informed you have been fined and that the fine will be sent in about 6 weeks time and if you pay the fine and you will be done. If your speed is very high (dependent on the location, very high in the city limits/outside city limits or on the freeway will be different in the number of miles) like more than 20 miles too fast on the freeway, you will be informed you will get fined but the officer will not be able to mention how much the fine will be, that is down to the prosecutor. The prosecutor has 2 choices, send a fine if it is your first offense or the previous offense was very long ago, or he will send a summons to appear for court.

If you disagree with your fine, you can always appeal it by taking it to court. You also don't have to sign or promise to contact the court or any stuff like that.

Also our officers almost never have to draw their weapons when walking up to a car, first of all there is always 2 of them, so they have safety in numbers. And almost nobody is armed in the Netherlands. And you have to be really impolite for the police to be throwing the book at you in the Netherlands.

LOL. This are Royal Canadian Mounties in the pic there, along with what looks like SWAT or maybe some military.

I have thanked cops on more than one occasion for giving me a simple speed ticket when I rated getting cuffed and car towed.

I once was pulled over in my Mustang in Pennsyltucky (dont live there I was road tripping a Rush show), I was clocked doing 109 mph BWAHAHAHA on the interstate . Had a radar detector but he had a laser and got me dead to rights.
He had every right to take me to jail and impound the car for reckless op, he wrote me a ticket and even had a laugh with me said "Now you can use the breakdown lane to get back up to speed, but try not to launch yourself into orbit."
State Trooper Pavlik, you're still freaking cool BWAHAHAHA.
Said "Im just going to ask you 1 question: is there any good reason at all you're going 109 miles per hour?"
I said "No sir, theres not."

Ticket only cost me $225, and I didnt get a single point on my license something about an out of state speeding ticket in my state does not add points.

Coolest State Hooper ever. Still have that ticket right here in my file drawer. This was 9 years ago now. I didnt attack the guy, and he didnt shoot me. Good deal.

Why would someone get towed and cuffed for a speeding infraction. If you speed more than 32 miles in the Netherlands you get your drivers license revoked (temporarily until the DA decides to hand it back after a big fine or a court date so that the judge can decide). If there is another person in the car allowed to drive the car and insured to drive the car, he/she will be allowed to do so.

Sometimes the car might be driven by the police officer (if the owner gives approval) to a safe place and then they can wait there until they have someone to drive their car. Even if intoxicated drivers get a driving ban if there is a forensic breath analyzing device present, otherwise the driver will be transported to the police station to be tested there.

125+ in a 45 zone was a big one.

Regularly over 85 when the 55mph was law.

Racing.

Exhibition of speed.

All can get you jailed.

One resulted in a misdemeanor conviction.

A judge can sentence you to jail in the Netherlands if you have really made terrible traffic crimes (injuries, deaths, etc.) but just even a bad traffic offense can never jail you for more than a year. And as we do not have a pretrial jailing for such short sentences, and we have no bail, you will be released after being questioned by the police. Then a prosecutor will decide when he will prosecute you. Normally such a case will last about an hour at best if you want witnesses to be heard.

Only for crimes over a specific number of years or to further the investigation can you be held in pretrial detention. But besides your family and friends nobody will know of your detention as we do not ever release names or faces of arrested people or even convicted people. Suspects have family who do not deserve to subjected to nationwide notoriety and possible attacks online etc.

Only in very rare cases will the face of a criminal be shown on television or media. Like in our version of most wanted. And only as long at they have not been apprehended.

Regularly only the warning that you will be shown without a beam across your face will lead to a suspect reporting at the police station to hand themselves in.

OK. Well this is the USA, not The Netherlands.

Well, that is obvious of course. I was just commenting on being taken to jail for a traffic violation like medium speeding.

I'm not a cop and never will be, but if I was, I'd call for backup the instant the person I pulled over gave me any shit. There are so many ways that stop could have gone bad it's not even funny. Call me a pansy if you like, but I'd just want to go home alive, and there's simply no way I'm going hands-on by myself. I mean...the guy had a gun.
