"What the union really wanted, according to Kinkisharyo officials, was clearance to organize the plant without any interference from the company."
Workers have a right to organize.
...And the company has done nothing to prevent them from organizing.
Based on the comment I posted, the company has a problem with it.
The standoff began shortly after the June announcement, when Local 11 officials sought a so-called card check agreement, where a company accepts the union if a majority of workers sign authorization cards. Absent such an agreement, the National Labor Relations Board would authorize a secret ballot during an organizing campaign the company would be free to oppose. The company said no thanks.
Expand / Contract Delays caused by a union-backed environmental complaint have cost the company $2 million, and prompted it to look out of state for a site to build its plant. (Kinkisharyo) (KINKISHARYO)
"We offer good salaries and good benefits, and we've never had a labor issue," Donald Boss, Kinkisharyo's general manager of program management, told The Los Angeles Times. "If our employees want to organize, they can. But we aren't going to organize for them."

Workers have a right to organize.
Sure they do.
And Corporations and wealth have a right to relocate
When is the left EVER going to realize this ?

I realize that scab friendly states undercut fair paying and safe jobs.
I believe workers' rights should be strengthened nationally to prevent other states from allowing the race to the bottom that we've been seeing for decades now as middle class jobs disappear while corporate profits skyrocket.
Thats true....and that's why states such as Texas that give free land away and hand out tons of corporate welfare bring the quality of life down for the vast majority of workers while lining the pockets of the CEO's with taxpayer money.
Texas has the highest percentage of people working for minimum wage (Tied with Mississippi).....do you think this is good for the working and middle class?
Oh please.
Texas offered Toyota 40 Million in Tax incentives to move here so they could build a 300 Million dollar facility and hire 3000 Texans.
All high paying jobs too.
Its called a INVESTMENT. Look it up.

LOL !!
You mean the States with growing economies ?? Where workers can actually earn a living ?
You can " believe " all you want. The Unions only have themselves to blame.
Thuggery can only get you so far.
Well, then start your own company in California and invite in the unions to get as much as they possibly can from you. Whats that? You don't know how to start a business? That's what I thought. You just want the state to impose your will on those who do have the ability to start their own enterprises. Got it.Undercutting your citizens into low paying jobs hurts both your citizens and the citizens of the states standing up for better conditions and pay.
Taking a low ball offer doesn't make you a winner, it makes the corporation low balling you a winner. Everyone else loses.
There is a reason why Texas ranks near the bottom in education and healthcare spending. They have plenty of free land and corporate welfare to hand out, but cannot fund essential services. You cite one company with good paying jobs. Doesn't change the fact that Texas is #1 in the country (along with Mississippi) in the number of people working for minimum wage.

"Only business owners should have a say in what is fair for the workers they employ."
Seems to me that the potential employee also has a say.. You know.. Accept or decline a job. Also, you know, some government regulations are necessary.. So the would have a say too.
The potential employee negotiating on their own against an organized corporation isn't much of a negotiation. Providing opportunities and encouraging workers to organize levels the systemic imbalance between corporate interests and the rest of us.
And, the company has the right to move where the unions cannot damage them - which damages the state, and the workers.
