For one to believe that an unbiased media is achievable, mainstream or otherwise, is a fallacy. There will always be an inherent bias in the relaying of information, at least when human beings are involved.

It is possible for different parts of this process to be unbiased, as it is possible for the actual reporting of information to be unbiased. However, as long as there is someone to make the choice of what is "news" and what isn't "news", then a bias exists, even when the selected "news" is reported in an unbiased manner.

The only way to escape this bias is to recieve information from multiple information outlets. Asking questions, critically approaching the answers, and forming one's own conclusion is part of being an intellectual being, and is the recipe for free thought.

I find it highly disturbing that many form opinions from one sole "news" source, and at times, even one commentator. This "tinted glasses" approach merely reiterates a lack of utilizing one's brain, and even more disturbingly, dumbs down the entire process of understanding issues.
