Mourners carry the body of Palestinian teenager Amer Snobar during his funeral procession in Nablus, Occupied West Bank

When the body of 16-year-old Amer Snobar arrived at a hospital in Ramallah he was pronounced dead "with clear signs of having been beaten and violence on the back of his neck,” hospital director Ahmad Bitawi said in a statement carried by the Palestinian Authority Health Ministry. Snobar’s friend Sakhr Najjar, who said he was at the scene of the incident, told local media that their car had broken down on Route 60 between Ramallah and Turmus Ayya when they saw soldiers behind them.

Sakhr Najjar who was a friend of Snobar gave an account of the murder at the hands of Israeli soldiers. He said both boys began running in different directions when the IDF appeared behind them in the dark last Saturday night. He witnessed the capture of Snobar by the soldiers and the beating to death.

16-year-old Amer Abdel-Rahim Snobar R.I.P.

According to the IDF, the soldiers had only concern for the boy's safety, conscientiously rendering first aid by medics when Snobar fell while running away, hurting his head. “He was not beaten by IDF forces,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

In the meantime, a UN envoy has called for an independent investigation into the 'disputed' death. We all know what that means. The IDF have already exonerated themselves and clearly see no reason for any further investigation in territory under Israeli control. What are a couple of Palestinian teens expected to do when IDF soldiers come up behind them on a dark night and their car is broken down? Ask for assistance?

Was an autopsy performed?

It would go a long way to condemn/exonerate the IDF.
