UN, toading to Peiping's brutal government, has said that unless Taiwanese journalists have a second passport, they are not to be granted press accreditation to cover the World Health Assembly coming up in Geneva, Switzerland. This meeting is covered more intensely in Taiwan than most other countries due to the issue of Taiwan's representation. Taiwan is applying to be an associate member, something despite China's claims IS permitted under the rules of the organization. Non-UN members like the Holy See, Red Cross, and the Palestinian Authority are associate members.

Further, a media officer threatened that a certain country (China) would make things worse for Taiwan is they complained about this. For the record, it was only two years ago that Taiwanese journalists were barred from the meetings. Prior to that, they were regularly allowed to cover the proceedings.

International media groups such as Reporters San Frontieres, the International Federation of Journalists, and the Association of European Journalists have condemned the ban.

For the record, which Taiwan has one of Asia's most open media environments, China is the world's largest media prison.
