Ukrainian President Zelensky flees to Poland

Imagine what a real military would've achieved by now. Economy in shambles, military thoroughly exposed, even their online propaganda is a laughing stock and light years behind Ukraine's. The world has been fooled for too long into thinking this fourth rate 'power' was a second rate power. The veil has been lifted.

They may have just been trying to go slow to reduce civilian casualties.

We know you are rooting for Putin. You didn't need to tell us again.

Everyone: notice how the TRUMPIST immediately believed the Russian "politician". Notice how he wants it to happen. Do you really think that's just because he wants to attack Biden?

Sanman loves every minute of this. They all do. Disgusting.

McCarthyites gotta McCarthy.

Every accusation is dripping with their partisan posturing. Even the invasion of Ukraine is converted into partisan opportunism.

Aaand Trump again! LMAO! Drink!

So that's the cue for the rest of them to fold, and Putin's war will be over in weeks.

On to China-Taiwan.
You actually believe Pravda; Russia's favourite propaganda organ? 'Pravda' in Russian translates as 'truth'! :ROFLMAO:

Your McCarthyism doesn't work on me. This has become a game -- a game to manipulate Ukrainians into fighting against Russia. That's why the Obama whitehouse spent money to back the various groups involved in the 2014 Capitol Insurrection.
What colour is the sky on your planet? This is the most absurd nonsense imaginable. Tell us, who 'manipulated' the US into fighting Japan after you were attacked in 1941?

If he actually DID or DOES flee, part of his decision may rest with the fact that our own Republican Putin-fluffers cranked up the danger level by doing this:

PS: Pravda readers even back in the old Soviet days did not take the newspaper seriously.
It was primarily used as a toilet paper substitute...LITERALLY.

Hi, Checkerboard Strangler!

Thank you for taking time to post a comment.

We shouldn't joke about this. The Russian People seem to be truly & thoroughly brain-washed concerning the 'conflict'. CNN has had Ukrainians recounting their stories of phone calls to their families in Russian, and it's shocking just how thoroughly the Russians are brainwashed.
How "brainwashed" were we when our armies invaded Iraq in a primitive war based on lies?

I am 99% sure this is false, and President Zelensky is still in Ukraine.
Mainly this is due to Russia being at war with that nation at this time, and the apparent source of this news being a Russian media organization.

But also, a search for "President Zelensky in Poland" returns several articles where President Zelensky specifically counters this claim and calls it false.
An example: https://www.msn.com/en-in/news/worl...poland-in-a-selfie-video-from-kyiv/ar-AAUDMBi

Granted, that could in theory have been recorded previously, ready for release, especially since I would bet you serious amounts of money that Russia really wants to kill him. Revealing his location would be dangerous to his health.

Hi, The Mark!

The post, hopefully, brought to the forefront the use of the 'net for propaganda purposes. This poor old country mouse is beginning to see a real possibility of a school course in how to tell 'real' from 'fake'. Or, far more subtle and difficult to detect, how to recognize and compensate for 'slant'.

Regards, stay safe 'n well.

@ JANFU!

Hi!

If people are going to learn how to tell propaganda from hard news, examples are required. In this particular instance, it is worth while for Americans to get some feel for the information that is provided to the Russian people through their news media.

The headline: Ukrainian President Zelensky flees to Poland

The lede: " President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has left Ukraine and evacuated to Poland, Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of the State Duma (the russian [sic] Parliament) announced on his Telegram channel."

The Comment: This armchair observer is unsure as to how long it will take for any of the major US news outlets to confirm this report. It may be that fake news is not limited to the United States of America. There are other articles and opinion pieces available at the same site.

If this is true that would not be good news, that would mean ukraine is ready to fold. There is the question of how true this is as it could just be information warfare, as both sides have been lying since day one of the conflict.

There could be a possibility too he is in poland on official business and planning to return, but either way I hope it is not true, him staying to the end is a rallying call to his people, him fleeing would send a sign of impending failure to his people.

Pravda?

No one who has any working brain cells believes that.

That is propaganda put out by putin to hopefully convince the Ukraine people to not fight against the russian troops.

exactly. So Putin owns it
Yes, along with state TV. There's little else available to the average Russian now that Putin has banned all independent news media, and threatened 15-year jail terms for even mentioning the word 'war'. He prefers his 'special military operation' euphemism.

Hi, beerftw!

In scanning the OP, you might have missed the date.

It is often difficult to separate out hard fact from the varying levels of fiction in war reportage. This is particularly true when one's sources are limited.

What is clear about Putin's costly murderous blunder is that the Ukrainian people will never give up until all Russian troops in the country are dead and neither will the west. We will continue to supply the Ukrainians with the weapons they need to kill Russians for however long it takes to rid Ukraine of the invaders. This war could go on for years.
Putin's main goal has always been defeated. He wanted to break up NATO, which is now stronger than ever, and he wanted to show Russia Military might to awe the world, which has shown it is a paper tiger (except for the nukes).

Russian generated fake news targets were never limited to the United States.

The ran similar operations in Italy, Georgia, and were major backers of the Brexit campaign.

All designed to divide the West, sow resentment and undermine people’s faith in their own institutions.

Hi, TomFitz!

Russia has a long history of what I think of as managed news. They are not alone in this. Any democracy worthy of the name may find itself dealing with 'news' promulgated by factions within it. The developers of our [US] constitution were aware that factions [Ed.: Read: political parties/ideologies,] are not controllable in a democracy through the constitution alone. The sole bulwark against them is a country's educational system. If that can be kept free from factional influence, things may work out.

The present movement in some areas of the US to interject restrictions in education based upon the desires of the parents [Ed.: Factions?] is troublesome to this poor old country mouse.

You know how they can reduce civilian casualties? Stop shelling and bombing cities.

Something that's likely to increase as the information channels to Russia continue to be reduced. The other potential side effect of harsh sanctions and little outside information, is it could easily create a rallying around the flag for Russians since the blame for their woes might end up on those imposing sanctions rather than the leader who brought them about.

The bolded is Putin's hope, I'm sure.

I don’t see any other news about the OP’s claim. I would feel more at easy if Pres Z was in Poland but I see no evidence that he is.
