Ukrainian Lawmakers Suspend Military Cooperation With Russia - ABC News
"The five cooperation agreements scrapped by the Verkhovna Rada include one giving the Russian military transit rights to reach Moldova, whose territory is partly controlled by a Moscow-supported separatist government."

Combined with the unwillingenss to cooperate on the latest "Russian GRU" affair, and few other things currently occurring on the ground it looks like someone is openly looking for another fight... that would end up with a lot of dead, and Ukraine again running to US/EU crying about the ebil Russian bear.

A Russian military journalist/blogger Denis Mokrushin has written today "I will remind you that previous unwillingness of the Kiev government to cooperate, lead to "cauldrons" on the border, Illovaysk, [Ukraine losing] Donetsk Airport, and Debaltsevo".

I wonder how they feel about having been dumped by the Germans.

Who?

Ukraine. Merkel told them not to expect to be accepted in the EU. And there is not much security for Ukraine, thought the trade treaty had implied there should be.

Well...I didn't know that.

Imo it is quite obvious that both the situation on the ground (military wise) and the socioeconomic situation which reminds me of Russia's 90's aren't particularly favorable for the current Ukrainian government.
Hence, the recent Ukrainian rhetoric e.g "We will liberate the airport, Donetsk, Crimea ...!", etc.
The shelling of rebel cities that started to intensify, as well as the mutual fighting on the ground that slowly got stronger and stronger since Minsk 2.

Interestingly, imo is that Ukrainian forces "casualty narrative" also changed.
If previously the casualties were downplayed or not reported at all, to a point when "no casualties" became a meme in the Ukrainian/Russian internet, as Ukrainian reports often sounded something along the lines of: "Today we've destroyed two battalions of terrorists, 10 Russian tanks, and 3 teams of Russian GRU, no casualties on our side". These days, almost every day there are reported dead and wounded, and further hysteria and "war talk" are being promoted via the media and internet resources.

It's also quite funny to watch pro-Ukrainian "experts" constantly talking about a future Russian aggression, first it was supposed to come this spring, now it's going to happen during the summer. Well... few more of those laws and similar actions and yes, you would definitely see actual GRU in Mariupol, and T-90 tanks in Odessa.

Btw ...if someone doesn't know, this wiki map shows why the route through Ukraine is so important.

Obviously Ukraine will not become a member of the EU. Not of NATO either.

It was probably a mistake and a list opportunity. As it is, Russia has possession of Crimea and Eastern Ukraine as a buttress.

A lot of mistakes were made by all sides in the Ukraine over the past few years. And huge mistakes were made by the Ukrainians in the past 20 years, leaving their country a complete economic basket case.

In any event the EU and NATO have no real role to play in the Ukraine and Ukraine certainly has no role in the EU or NATO.

Which can be blamed on the US in part at least.

In part. We did not persist against resistance to their entry into NATO and were not firm enough in warning of the dangers of Art.7, Title 2 of the trade agreement without military prestationing. We also did not help Ukrainian military with boots on the ground. But you don't certainly believe we should have! That would be odd. ;)

The US and EU made many mistakes in the Ukraine as did Russia. But on the whole, prime responsibility for the mess Ukraine is in lies with the Ukrainians.

They certainly don't seem to have a very good act together.

Another Russian-inspired separatist "frozen" conflict. Russia currently has 1,500 soldiers in Trans-Dniester. After Moldovan voters recently elected a pro-EU government, 74,000 people living in Trans-Dniester have applied for Moldovan passports.

You want me to respond to that "information" somehow, or you've just got bored of your "butthurt over Ukraine/Russia" threads and decided to pay a visit?!?

No, of course I don't think we should have helped Ukraine with boots on the ground, why in hell is that odd?

Aww. Russia can't trot her Trans-Dniester occupation troops across Ukraine anymore.

"Now, when Ukraine broke all agreements with Russia in the sphere of military-technical cooperation, including the transit of goods through the Ukrainian territory, the Ministry of Defense has no choice as to provide everything necessary for the Russian soldiers via an air bridge, using Military transport aircraft" - said Yuri Yakubov Interfax-AVN " on Friday.

...but hey, if you want to see actual Russian GRU Spetsnaz taking over the Kiev rada in 2015, you can always suggest some "counter measures" that Ukrainian forces should apply against such or similar supply lines. :D
