The south certainly would have risen again to protect their desperate attempts at restoring the antebellum system......and been crushed, again. And then another generation of southern leaders would go to the wall. And it would continue until the south learned that their efforts to brutally oppress African Americans and keep them second class citizens would not be tolerated....period.
And they would have been shot down like the rabid dogs they were, having accomplished nothing....which is exactly what happened to all the other “bushwhackers”. The North was not going to tolerate secession, especially not after 1865. Period. The south could have tried.....but they would have failed, and only succeeded in further wrecking themselves.
They literally flew the Confederate flag in celebration at Da Nang for three days after Martin Luther King Jr was murdered.
