I am thinking that there are better things to invest in.The money was ostensibly to help support the film industry in the UK in general. Whether this is a worthy social goal for the UK or not is not something I have an opinion on though.
U.K. Government Unveils Tax Relief for Studios and Indie Film Credit as ‘Jurassic World 4’ Sets Shoot in Country
During the reading of the U.K. government’s spring budget on Wednesday, Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt revealed a 40% corporate tax relief for film and TV studios through 2034. The plan also includes a new tax credit for independent films shot in the U.K. that have a budget less than...www.yahoo.com
My younger son is a film major and may end up in Wales to try to do his work (he is looking at a current opportunity). I am hoping it works out for him.I am thinking that there are better things to invest in.
Yea like oil companies...and rich people.I am thinking that there are better things to invest in.
UK taxpayers contributed £89m to the most expensive movie ever made
Scheme to boost British film industry leads to Universal Pictures pocketing millions of pounds for blockbuster Jurassic World: Rebirthwww.theguardian.com
Apparently the sums add up but it doesnt sit well with me. It sounds like welfares for rich people.
The facilities are supposedly top notch anyway and if they want to stimulate the film insustry they coulld invest in some Ealing comedies.
It seems perverse when the government is intent on killing disabled people and starving children.
I saw the first jurassic film and cheered for the dinos when they were trying to eat those awful kids.I don't know which is more scandalous here: The money the UK shelled out at taxpayers' expense or the fact that another Jurassic World movie is being made.
Well that is an option but I was thinking more like council housing or even bin collections.Yea like oil companies...and rich people.
Bin collectors are most private companies and no way would even a labour government start making council housing as that would decrease the value of existing homes and hence put a lot of people under water so to say.. and cause massive economic harm to the UK.Well that is an option but I was thinking more like council housing or even bin collections.

At least you guys get a movie out of it.
Every country has its problems, but look at this shitshow. Just look at it.There is a current program to build millions of houses - Reform supporters have been trying to say the houses will be built by immigrants and they will house illegal immigrants.
According to the article - the money spent comes back multiplied into the UK economy. I see no problem with it.
Which I doubt will happen.... its not in the interest of both parties to devalue the housing stock to such a degree that prices fall. There is a current program to build millions of houses - Reform supporters have been trying to say the houses will be built by immigrants and they will house illegal immigrants.

Ive got 3 20 year olds looking to buy with very little in their price range. Rents are high because the market is skewed. Goes back to thatcher and the original sell off.I hope they do, currently, the only people benefitting from high prices in the South are Norwegian pension funds, Chinese and Russian Oligarchs and Oil ministers from the middle east.
If the UK wants social mobility and for people up north to travel and work in the south without breaking themselves financially, something has to happen.
