I think that is part of Vauge's problem. We're not all adults here. Several registered members are under 14. So I think that's part of it. The other part is he truly does not approve of fowl language IMO.

What are 14 year olds doing trolling the internet with all the porn and hate sites that are out there? Shouldn't their parents be vetting their use of the family computer? Oh, don't tell me: they have their own computers in their rooms these days! Fail to see why I should modify my language to compensate for irresponsible parenting.
In any case, at 14 they hear worse than 'bitch' in the school playground.

While I am somewhat open to allowing these kids access to the forum (hopefully they will learn something like critical thinking), we should not be subject to censorship on word usage. I agree with Urethra that they hear (and say) worse in their High Schools.

I think we (Forum members) all practice adult behavior without anarchy, within the bounds of civility (most of the time!). A well placed curse, offers emphasis and effect and should not be deleted because of puritanical, Victorian ignorance. They (the tight asses) might say it isn't necessary to use that language... but if it is MY communication, Imight think it is! If someone is offended, they can say so... and if deserving will receive an apology. :applaud

I tend to agree with the above two posts. Personally words are merely words as far as I'm concerned. My earlier post was directed more at explaining why Vauge might be concerned with these posts. Perhaps in the future I should let him speak for himself. I definitely agree with Urethra Franklin's assessment that the "kids" are hearing much worse then bi*ch in school everyday of the week. That maybe wrong, that maybe right? But that's certainly way the way it is. I also agree with her/his opinion that the parents should be the ones responsible for controlling their children's Internet content. There's a huge problem here in the US anymore where parents have no idea what their children are doing. People have become so consumed with their lives that, all to often, children become an after thought.

No arguement here that parents need to take a role in that responsibility. That is why we do not allow younger than 13 to post on these boards. This is by law as well. If younger than that stop by to take a gander, that is not our issue. That is the parents.

But, I do have to ask...

Was I the only one that was offended? I felt that it was degrading to call all women "hairy" dogs. At at least that is what I gathered by the use of the word in the context(s) it was written.

Perhaps I am just smoking crack and need to butt out.
