Mostafa Tabatabainejad, an Iranian-American student at UCLA, plans to sue the University Police Force for brutal excessive force and false arrest. He has also, via his lawyer, accussed the University Police Force of racial profiling. CAIR has also demanded a full investigation into the incident. Apparently, the University Police Force approached him and asked to see his student ID and when he refused they tried to escort him out. When the police grabbed him he demanded that they release him and refused to stand up. In response, the University Police Force repeatedly tasered him. To see the incident for yourself go here:

Case of brutal excessive force or justified force? What say you?

From what I've heard, they suspected him of stealing a library book or something, asked to see the ID, he refused, caused a bit of a scene, then this stuff happened.

The problem is, the video of all this doesn't really show what LED to it. If the initial tasering was unjustified then he should go all for it. However, I hardly think we have enough here to really say "OMG! They're racists!". We have no idea what he was doing, why he was asked for his ID, etc.

That being said, I don't think the subsequent tasering was out of the question. When a cop tells you to "Stand up" and you respond with "F--- you"...and they proceed to tell you 6 or 7 times "Stand up" or "Stand up, or you will be tazed again" that's not excessive, its him resisting. A taser is not going to make you unable to move or stand up, not one of the power an officer like that would likely be employing.

Loved the shouts of "HERE'S YOUR PATRIOT ACT!"...cause you know, somehow this had something to do with the patriot act? O.o

From what I understand, UCLA has certain hours when non-UCLA students are permitted inside the library and the University Police are permitted to check for student IDs if they have reason to believe a non-UCLA student is there after hours.

The one most commonly used by police produces enough of a shock to wind you and knock you back. It was clear from the video that he was trying to stand up when he was tasered the second time.

Some people believe that section 412 of the Patriot Act is a free pass for law enforcement to engage in racial profiling and racially motivated arrests. I assume he is one of those people.

He's student so why the hell didn't he just show them his ID? The guy was looking to make trouble.

Clear from the video? I honestly couldn't see anything except for a large crowd of people and the guy screaming.

They were checking all of the IDs during a random search in the library and this little sh!t shot off his mouth and started encouraging the students not to show the officers their ID. He thought he was hard he stood up and then got smacked down, case dismissed. He's lucky they used the taser I would of liked to have seen some batton action.
