UAE give fashion advice after Ohio cops detain Arab in traditional garb

Wow, that's pretty messed up.

Top news on Sky News atm (guess it is a slow news day), and the cops had body cams on.. boy they were all rambo and ****. Yes they were miss-informed but damn they were way over aggressive.

Sadly, I expect this to become more common. Trump has made it fashionable, for some, to be openly bigoted towards muslims (and Mexicans. And pretty much anyone)...

So we'll keep seeing instances where a Real American Patriot sees someone who looks muslim speaking a language they don't recognize, and decides to phone it in as a terrorist plot in action.

It is no excuse for bad behavior, but dressing up in a way that puts you in danger, where you are going, you are stupid. We discussed this in context of a transvestite that got abused.

How does dressing like that put anyone in danger? This is just racism.

... hope the hotel worker gets arrested and prosecuted.
Why?
The clerk supposedly heard the following.

"in full head dress … pledging allegiance or something to ISIS"

If this is what a person thinks they hear it is exactly the kind of stuff that people should be reporting.

It wasn't just what he was dressed in. It was what they thought they heard him saying.

It's a fine line between patriotism and nationalism ...

Do you really mean that question?

Yes. Is is extremely racist to assume an Arab looking man wearing traditional clothes is a terrorist.

They had no way of knowing that because he was speaking Arabic. They assumed because he was speaking Arabic he was an ISIS terrorist.

And as already pointed out to you it was because of what the person was thought to have said, not his dress.

No she did not hear it, the police have confirmed afterwards that she made it up.

An Arab looking man wearing traditional clothing and speaking Arabic. It is racism.

Someone speaking in a foreign language? It was literally impossible for her to hear that, she made it up because she is a racist.

I saw the newsnet5 report. That claim has not been confirmed.

"False claim" could be that that wasn't what they actually heard, not that it wasn't what was thought to be heard.
