U.S. Vote counting = Disgrace

Voting is a privilege based on:

age;
literacy;
long residency;
and criminal past

Are you saying a voter in Ohio should be able to vote in elections in Florida, Kansas, or Texas? Of course not.

Let's take those in order:

Age - the 2A also has age restrictions because we don't sell shotguns to toddlers. So it's not a right under this theory, although mentioned in the bill of rights.

Literacy - no, in fact the illiterate can vote. If you need assistance to vote, such as being illiterate, you have a right to get that assistance.

Long residency - no, the right is limited to citizens, and their length of residence before voting isn't defined.

Criminal past - once again, we have laws against convicted felons owning guns. So owning a gun also isn't a "right" in your analysis, although mentioned in the bill of rights.

It is important to remember, voting is a privilege, not a right. Deceased people cannot vote. Minors cannot vote. Illegal aliens cannot vote. Homeless people cannot vote. Felons shouldn't be able to vote but some states feel it is necessary.

I kind of envision a secure website online where voters have to confirm their SSN and driver's license to vote. I wouldn't even mind a picture confirmation. My computer logs me in based on facial recognition so the technology is definitely there.
