Two Republican candidates vying for an Ohio U.S. Senate seat engaged in an onstage confrontation that nearly became physical. Republican candidates Mike Gibbons and Josh Mandel went toe to toe during a debate organized by the conservative group FreedomWorks in Gahanna, Ohio, on Friday. Recent polling indicates that Mandel, a former Ohio state treasurer who was an early frontrunner for the GOP nomination, has recently been overtaken by Gibbons, an investment banker who vied for the state's other Senate seat in 2018.

The confrontation began when Mandel, who was seated as Gibbons walked across the stage while speaking, accused the frontrunner of making "millions of dollars" from questionable investments in China. Gibbons angrily denied the accusation and said that Mandel "may not understand" because he had "never been in the private sector." Mandel became visibly upset and rose to his feet to approach Gibbons, coming within inches of his face.

I've worked! I've done two tours in Iraq! Don't tell me I haven't worked," Mandel said while pointing a finger at his rival.

"You don't know squat!" replied Gibbons.

..."You're dealing with the wrong guy," Mandel threatened. "You watch what happens, p**sy."

I'm so tired of the fighting. In so many campaign ads, GOP candidates' only interest seems to be to show how hard they will fight liberals, even to the extent that they shot at copies of printed liberal policies or at even liberals themselves. Now they're turning on themselves in a primary.

If these clowns get back in power, this country is going down the drain, albeit strongly and angrily, as if that's any compensation.

Seems like this is pretty common behavior for Mandel. He's definitely hamming it up for what he thinks right wing voters want (and he's right). This comment about his female Democratic opponent during a previous debate is definitely going to give right wingers here what can only be called an "aggressive" chubby.

Saying that nothing outside of working in the private sector isn't "real" work is the stupidest thing anyone can say outside of "a republic is not a democracy"

If you haven't worked in both, you don't know how the two are both difficult.

Someone should suggest irrigating the fields with water instead of Brawndo.

This is the aggression that righties want. They don't want to govern. They want to dominate.
