U.S. rejects offer from China for preparatory trade talks: FT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Trump administration has rejected an offer from China for preparatory trade talks this week ahead of high-level negotiations scheduled for next week, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing people briefed on the talks.

The proposed trip by Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen and Vice Finance Minster Liao Min was offered to pave the way for talks between Chinese Vice Premier Liu He and top U.S. officials set for Jan. 30-31.

COMMENT:-

And why would Mr. Trump need any preliminary discussions held since he will go to China and emerge with an even greater "Great Deal" than the one that he got from the DPRK and the one he is going to get from the Turks?

I mean, the Chinese are - obviously - totally awed by the way that Mr. Trump is in total control of the government of the United States of America and are - equally obviously - fully aware that the Legislative Branch will approve of anything that he tells it to approve of.

The US and China just had preparatory trade talks two weeks ago.

Why did the US reject more preparatory talks? Hmmm?

Why didn't that news article try to find this out?

Oh...and when will Trump be going to China?

Quite right. Obviously not all points were resolved (or at least close enough to being resolved).

Why did the US reject more preparatory talks? Hmmm?

Good question. Possibly your Representative, Senator, or President can answer it - I can't.

Why didn't that news article try to find this out?

The next article, if you read the link and keep on scrolling is "Trump won't soften hardline on China to make trade deal: advisers". That might indicate that the Chinese weren't prepared to accept 100% of what Mr. Trump said they had to agree to (but might be willing to go further than they had already gone) and so there was absolutely no point in holding any preliminary talks because there wasn't going to be any agreement unless the Chinese agreed to 100% of what Mr. Trump said they had to agree to.

Oh...and when will Trump be going to China?

March 4 would be a good date. The Chinese sort of like that date.
