U.S. is closing in on doing something it hasn't done since World War II — borrowing more money than it raises - MarketWatch

“This scary reality is the culmination of at least three factors: 1.) We were already running large, and eventually unsustainable, deficits pre-COVID; 2.) The crisis has caused revenues to fall well below expectations and countercyclical spending to spike; 3.) The government’s fiscal response has been appropriately large, adding significantly to deficits,”

Trumpists will probably ignore the first point in order to absolve their messiah of blame.

It's amazing that people are willing to lend us money.

I kind of like teabaggers. I hope they don't change it.

Candidate trump told us all how he loves debt and he's proving it. Sad it's one of the few campaign promises he's kept.

So, you are against extra unemployment and stimuluses?

I will not ignore that point, and raise you 16 TRILLION for the green new deal and 32 TRILLION (over 10 years) for MCA.
But yano, Trump haterz will probably ignore the first point in order to install their dementia-addled messiah.

Well at least when the dems spend, it benefits the people. When republicans spend, the money just vanishes. Where did it go?

You mean like how Bill De Blasio's wife lost $850 MILLION dollars? Like that?
You mean like California's high-speed rail which has lost BILLIONS? Like that?

See...it helps if ya got the receipts.

So, you are in favor of no extra unemployment and no stimuluses?

I dont know about them MR but we both know you are against them.

The fact is, you want to add to the debt and add substantially to the debt. That's the fact.
. Republicans are against adding to the already too high deficit. Republicans are against even more stimulus than we already had. 20 trillion dollars of debt is quite enough, thank you.

There is no limit to Democratic Party hypocrisy. Pelosi has said that every American can die for all she cares, unless she can get 4.6 trillion more - most of which is for raw hundreds of billions each to Democratic politicians to do with as they please - while ranting about federal debt.

Like other countries have leant us the bulk of it to begin with. We just monetize the "debt" and pretend the federal reserve isn't really part of the government.

So, just let businesses fail, people go bankrupt, lose their homes? Your bullshit attempt to tie this to Trump is shameless partisanship in a time of crisis. Shame
The pandemic is due to trump's failed policies. He called it a democratic hoax despite knowing how serious it was.

Wrong on both counts. idiocy squared.

You were perfectly willing to let that happen in the last recession when a black guy was POTUS....that is AFTER you denied a recession was occurring. Both you and Trix wanted ZERO bailouts for banks, GM or citizens.

Why worry about debt? It's fiat money anyways, and we ain't gonna pay it back no how. It's not like we're still on the gold standard, where we would have to come up with actual gold to pay the debt. When you play with monopoly money debt just doesn't matter.
