U.S. intelligence chiefs contradict Trump on North Korea, Iran, and ISIS

Yup. Saddam wanted to be suspected of WMD because he needed that threat to keep the Iranians at bay. His deception succeeded too well.

That's right. And Cheney, Wolfowitz, and Rumsfeld wanted an excuse to get Bush to start a war in Iraq and remove Saddam Hussain. They got their wish.

The Senate abrogated its responsibility and passed a bill authorizing the president to declare war against iraq.

AUMF is pure political sophistry and has hurt this country.

Our intelligence error was mirror-imaging. We assumed that since the presence/absence of WMD was most important for us then it was also most important for Saddam. It was not. Most important for Saddam was to create the impression in Iran that he might have WMD.

Exactly right, and there was a precedent set as the president declared a de facto war in Vietnam, even though it was not called a war at the time. It's time to bring the Constitution back, dust the footprints off if it, and replace it as the supreme law of the land.
