The economy grew by 2.1% between July and September, according to the Commerce Department. That's better than its first estimate of 1.5%.

The revision is a sign that the economy is weathering the global economic slowdown better than some had previously expected. It also comes just weeks after the best report on jobs growth of the year in October.

So much for all the gloom and doom. America has the fastest growing economy in the free world and has for most of Obama's 2 terms. Why would we want to change parties in the Whitehouse in 2016? Especially when every new Republican President elected has had a recession in his first term. Here's a chart of GDP growth by President. It is pretty obvious who does best with the economy.

Those gas prices though.... I have got to think that as a lot to do with it.

It looks the is better when a Democrat is president.

Remember the Right's Absolute Surety that Obama was going to declare war on Big Oil, that even in 2008 they were sure that because of Obama, we'd soon be having $5/gal gas?j

But I get it - if the price of gas goes way up, it must be Obama's fault, but if the price of gas goes down, it can't be because of any influence Obama may have had. After all, Thou Shalt Not Give Obama Credit For Anything Ever...but if something bad happens, well, that MUST be Obama's fault!

Re: The U.S. economy got some good news Tuesday.

The economy will go a bit up, then down, then a little higher, then back down. This economic system we are in is unsustainable, we need something drastic to change how we organize production. I'm thinking worker cooperatives.

It's only unstable when the Government destabilises it with destructive Left Wing initaives.

And it's also unstable when conservative right wingers allow corporations to take advantage of the labor force. Then yell bloody murder about any benefits people need in lieu of good wages.

Let's take a little time to help you practice using data to support your position. Notice the frequency and duration of economic contractions after "government destabilises it".

The more you know!:2wave:

That is all the better the economy can do at Fed manipulated '0'% Interest Rates for 6 years and adding 10,000,000,000,000 to the debt?

Lower gas prices would mean a lower GDP if everything else remained the same. Consumers are spending more despite the lower gas prices.

If I start a company, it's mine and no one else's.

Want to feel like the owner of a company? Start one yourself.

To ****ing hell with worker cooperatives. If some people are dumb enough to do that then fine, but otherwise we arent changing a thing in that regard.

Think again, cooperatives are on the rise. Your company wouldn't be **** without the labor that produces everything. You would have nothing. Start a company and do all the work yourself, then it's all yours buddy.

There will be labor, because as much as I need employees, so do people need goddamn jobs.

And with those on the bottom who like to whine and complain and start cooperatives? Automate them to hell, and let em live on the streets until they decide to go back to school and reform themselves.

People can choose where they work, they are not slaves as much as you would like them to be. Nobody will work for your poverty wages and crappy attitude. It's the end of this period in our history, people are waking up. If you can't provide people with a middle class wage, you better start another business on a different model.

Here's an example of the future. Cry now.

MONDRAGON Corporation

wait...how does that make sense?

Lower gas price, means lower prices for EVERYTHING that requires transportation. AND it also means less money is spent on gas so more people have more money to spend.... it's a double wammy.

Here's an example of a fast growing powerhouse that is about to reach a worth of over a trillion dollars.

Apple

And its not a silly cooperative.

Youre welcome, and no Im not crying.

Re: The U.S. economy got some good news Tuesday.

The graph is too simplistic. There are many variables which happen at different times, wars and gas prices, just to name a few, not to mention economies go in cycles on a regular basis anyway. Nothing ever goes up all the time and nothing ever goes down all the time. Probably Reagan had the biggest economic expansion in a very long time, maybe ever, but he doesn't do that well on the graph because he inherited Carter's extreme mess and recession and it took a while for his policies to take effect. Also, huge deficits can make the economy look better than it really is. You could argue this with both Reagan and Obama. This is just another case where you can find evidence to support any conclusion you want to make to prove that you are right. It's really a matter of perspective.

Re: The U.S. economy got some good news Tuesday.

Saying that Democrats bring economic improvement is so ridiculous. Clinton benefited from the massive tech boom, not his doing.
New York and California are liberal strong holds, and both states have been financially weak for years. Illinois is another liberal state, and is so weak that it has stopped paying winners in their state lotto.

Apple's products are really crappy, and they outsource labor to China. Nice try. Top down capitalism is on its way out, and a cooperative market structure is starting to develop.

Would you say Germany is an economic powerhouse?

How many times does this have to be explained?? CONGRESS is the branch of gov't with most influence on our economy, not the Oval Office.

LOL Congress has done nothing for he last 6 years and you have blamed the President for the economy more than once too. You can't blame him whene it is bad than say he had nothing to do with it when it is good....unless you are a Conservative of course.

They are spending more then when gas prices were high because they are buying NEW STUFF. Not just filling the tank so they can get to work.

WTF?

I believe you are severely confused...

How are they buying more NEW STUFF.... when they have less money to spend and spending MORE on getting to work?
Why would you spend more money when you have less money and higher prices?

Never realized Bill Clinton was a Consrrvative Right Winger.

And Co-ops still have to compete and make a profit.
